Are humans meant to mate for life? What drives someone in a perfectly good relationship to cheat and risk losing the one that they love and that loves them? Is it possible to love more than one person at the same time? How well does anyone really know the one that they love? Directed by Mike Nichols (THE GRADUATE, BIRDCAGE, WORKING GIRL), CLOSER questions the nature of relationships and fidelity as it follows the tangled web created by Dan (Jude Law), Alice (Natalie Portman), Anna (Julia Roberts), and Larry (Clive Owen). Dan, a British writer of obituaries, and Alice, a young American stripper, meet in the film's opening scene when a London cab runs her down. Cut to a year later: Dan and Alice are now a couple, but he is suddenly smitten with Anna, a beautiful American photographer. In an ironic twist of fate, Anna meets Larry, a British doctor, and they are soon a couple, despite Dan's continuing obsession. But the entanglements don't end there, and ultimately, someone is sure to get hurt. The four players do justice to a script that is humorous, raw and disarmingly honest about adult relationships.

Wonderful, intense film, don't let granny watch though!

Bargainous!

Given CD-WOW's recent form, they'll probably leave it on back order for a month, then decide they can't supply, then cancel the order and make you wait a further week for your refund.

That seems to be the norm for CD-WOW.

"call me the sultan...9£"

MMMMmmmmmmmmmm Natalie Portman. :-D

I love film and consider myself a movie buff. This is the most ridiculous, up itself film I have ever seen and I am amazed that someone as talented as Patrick Marber came up with it. Dreadful.

But, if you like it, I guess £1.99 is a good price.

+1

truly awful film - all excellent actors (jude law excepted), but after watching this I just wanted to put them all in a blender and turn the switch on.

utterly utterly self absorbed naval gazing - 1.99 is a good deal for a feature film... just not this tosh.

(the only other time I've felt so angry at watching a film was when I saw 'pearl harbor' at the cinema - I shouted at the screen for wasting 3 hours of my life I could never get back - much to the amusement of other folk in the auditorium)

Exactly the right word: "angry". I was angry that I had wasted a couple of hours of my life watching this film. The only other time I can remember feeling like that - from the thousands of films I have seen (good, bad, and indifferent) - was the second "Pirates of the Caribbean" film (and, I admit, I should have known better than to go and see that in the first place so I take full responsibility for that one). "Closer" was getting good reviews from intelligent, considered critics and I "was lead to believe" it was something special. It wasn't.

amazing film

Superb film and Superb price.
