Cloverfield is one of the most exciting and frightening sci-fi horrors of the last decade. A wobbly-rollercoaster ride that weaves its rickety way through darkened subways and exploding skyscrapers to avoid the powerful, terrifying and destructive force that has New York City under attack. Matt Reeves' monster-horror combines suspense, terror and explosions within its sudden, claustrophobic, and tension-filled scenes of desperate New Yorkers struggling to stay alive.

Rob's (Michael Stahl-David) impending trip to Tokyo is put on hold when, during his going away party, a devastating and frightening presence starts to destroy the city. As the explosions, screams and devastation increase, Rob, his brother Jason (Mike Vogel) and their group of friends face the most difficult decision of their lives. As Rob's long-term friend and current love interest Beth (Odette Yustman) is trapped alone in her apartment on the other side of the city, do they attempt to save themselves and flee the city to safety or head further in to the ruin and save Beth?

Cloverfield is a fantastically wrought film, where The Blair Witch Project style of using a handheld home video camera throughout adds tension and captures the chilling realism of the situation in which the city, and group, have found themselves in. With stylistic flourishes and inventive shocks, director Matt Reeves and visionary producer J. J. Abrams (Lost), have delivered on their `documentary-style' monster attack concept and produced an enjoyable, exhilarating and downright scary monster movie.

I have to rate hot for the price, but it was an awful film

Edi the 5% works for everyone no matter a member or not. Stupid glitch looking a little lower with quidco and RAC.

I loved the film so this makes it a right bargain. Already got it on Blu-ray tho.

it been this price for weeks.

I think they must have bought 100000,000000000,000000000 of these.

good film .

on sky movies this weekend if you want to try before you buy

Really enjoyed this film. I was a bit sceptical due to the reviews I had read, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Voted hot!

definitely try before you buy if you have sky but if you don't this is cheaper than renting. I thought it was average. if you can stand the shaky film making and not knowing what is really going on.

I enjoyed the film but it would have been far better without the shaking video camera effect and just made in the normal way.

I prefer the South Park version.

"I'm so startled".

I thought this was quite good the first time round, but it's the type of film that has an element of surprise which would make it hard for me to watch again.

I watched this on my projector
It made me feel sea sick

The surprise for me was Odette Yustman - wowowowow!

I wish i'd spent the £2.99 on an old godzilla movie instead now having watched! Got it for £2.99 on amazon a couple of weeks ago and really wished I hadn't. Still far better than the recent Godzilla remake (as if thats hard).

Cloverfield more expensive than a £2 chicken, still manages to split the crowd into argument!

Awful movie!!

That's kinda the point for most of the film - the unknown is always scarier than some big rubber suited monster.

I think the film's more subtle moments are it's strongest point. It's not perfect but it's far from being a bad or terrible movie. Hot!

In another thread you admit to spending £10 on Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull.

HAHA! :w00t: Top detective work sir...

I saw this last week, and was surprised at how good it was. I don't normally like "Teen " movies ( well, they're not really teens, but I thought it was going to be) It was suspenseful, and very well made. Worth the 3 squid.

Hot from me.

dont write this film off its infact quite good i think and very clever in terms of camera work and digital effects.some quite funny bits in aswell.HOT in my book

Good film, impressive upscaling quality too for those that have a DVD upscaler.....

Excellent price - voted hot from me

Decent enough premise and story but poor execution by the actors and director - one of those films where you are regularly thinking "you just wouldn't do that!"

Good price though

a suprisingly good movie, saw it on a flight on holiday, quite like it, the BluRay HD transfer is supposed to be top notch, if only the BD version is anything near this price, suprising the DVD is down to such a low price, the BD version is still so high, would be willing to pay £7 or £8 for the BD version.

Really surprised so few people rate this film.
I usually hate the 'Blair Witch' stylee but I thought with Cloverfield it wasn't a problem after the first 10 minutes. This kind of film has to be acted by unknowns & I thought the terror that came through when obviously they were reacting to nothing was realistic (although I must admit to never being attacked by a large Godzilla type beastie!).
I also don't understand why so many people have said you never really get to see the creature, at a couple of points in the film you get a full, albeit quite distant, view of of said beastie.

Def hot!!

Rec is a much better film.

Didn't like Cloverfield and was really disappointed by the Mist, which was awful.
