Not strictly a deal but something that Lloyds account holders might find useful ...

Club Lloyds is free - No fee! No monthly account fee if you pay in £1,500 each month. If you pay less than £1,500 it will cost you £3 each month.

As a Club Lloyds customer you could get a 0.20% discount on your mortgage interest rate!

2% AER (1.98% gross p.a.) variable credit interest On balances of £1 to £5,000 when you pay out two separate direct debits each month.

Plus ....

Each year you can choose either 6 cinema tickets, an annual magazine subscription, or annual Gourmet Society membership.

I've chosen the 6 cinema tickets that I will get every year

So if you qualify and you want better rates and free stuff for nothing then hope this helps you !

Could I ask you why you think its a bad card ?

Before I had a standard Lloyds account and I got nothing included. This costs me nothing and I get better rates, better rates for my mortgage and free cinema tickets, an annual magazine subscription, or annual Gourmet Society membership ?

Whats not to like ?

Sorry, I still don't understand whats not worth it?

I'm currently a Lloyds customer on a standard account and I pay in over the £1500 each month

If I swap my standard account to a Club Lloyds account (FOR FREE) then I get ....

1, 0.20% discount on my mortgage interest rate!
2, 2% AER (1.98% gross p.a.) variable credit interest On balances of £1 to £5,000 when I pay out two separate direct debits each month.
3, Each year I can choose either 6 cinema tickets, an annual magazine subscription, or annual Gourmet Society membership.

This is all for FREE ?

Why is this "Not worth it" ?

Give up R3tro..... Great account to have.....
Let him carry on thinking it's not worth it.... I have the account and have a rolling direct debit for £1500 that goes out of my current account in to CL account and back which avoids the account charge. Set up 2 more DDs from the account and top up each month to the CL and your all done. This was all set up in branch but could also be set online.
Had this since it started. Only good for cinema tickets really. You only get 6 a year to use.

Please educate me and tell me what I don't understand but try to be specific as your comments are way too vague

What "Hidden fees" are you talking about?

There is a £3 fee if you don't pay £1500 a month into the account (This is not hidden - I've put that in the description)

I'm fortunate to be able to pay in over the £1,500 a month so the account is FREE. As are the discounted rates + Free cinema tickets etc

No FEES at all ....... especially not "Hidden ones"

a lot of people don't actually earn £1,500 a month as you need this to be credited to the account so it only works for people who have a decent regular income. the £3 monthly fee is not worth paying for those who do not have this regular income.

we had this when the interest rate was 4%, so it was really great then. it is only good now for the free cinema tickets as the 2% interest benefit on offer is not worth getting out of bed for

cinema tickets are very expensive unless you get them on offer, so 6 cinema tickets free every year is a lot of dosh, enough to get me out of bed for, and i am not even a big movie fan!

if it wasn't for the cinema tickets, i would close our accounts down as the 2% benefit is not worth me faffing about with yet another bank account. i got so many, i lose track of where all my money is and where all the direct debits are being paid from and to whom!
The Gourmet Society membership is a waste as half the restaurants have closed down. Go for the cinema tickets
Can the discount be applied to existing mortgages or does it have to be new?

I used to have multiple current accounts when they had the vantage scheme increasing the interest rate to 4% up to a maximum value per account, once I'd reached the limit where no additional interest was paid I'd just open another account. Got paid into the main account then bounced the funds through the rest and back to the main account. I was getting £20 a month per account in interest 😊

Making your money work for you.....Brilliant
In my view, the numbers work out like this -

1. Interest is around £8 per month (subject to your personal tax situation) if you have at least 5000 balance in the account through the month
2. The movie tickets will net you around £35 on eBay, if you are so inclined

So unless the mortgage interest saving is good, there is no point to switch to this right now without any switching incentive. I will however also accept that their Android app is definitely one of the best compared to those from other high street banks. On the flip side, there is HSBC which is offering £200 to switch right now (you need to keep the account for a year) but the application form is worse than an inquisition and the app is simply terrible.

My wife banks with Starling - no switching incentive, no joint account, interest paid is only 0.25% but the application is easy, the app is really good, customer service response time is fast (all within the app) and there is no extra cost to the use debit card anywhere on the planet other than what the ATM operator may charge.

Some really good points there if you compare this side by side to other banks

The reason I thought I'd highlight the account is because I'm already with Lloyds. So for me its super easy. I just upgrade for free and continue to use the same account. I don't have to do any transferring of funds. I don't even have to set up new direct debits. I just now get better rates and free cinema tickets every year for filling in a form that took me less than 5 mins

As you say the app is amazing with Lloyds as the customer service when you phone them is fantastic. So I have no plans to move from them. But if I get a better account for free then its cool with me

You dont need to actually earn £1500 a month. You only need to have £1500 in savings and then you can transfer it to Lloyds account every month and then transfer it back to another account.
