nice

don't you need to pay around £5 for postage...........?

free delivery

No.

I keep waiting for last 2 related posts. I think I have to act now.

Excellent. Was very tempted by the Hut offer, but couldn't justify it. Now a few more pounds off? Add to basket.

Just remember you will need bluray playback software and that is not cheap.

I cant get the code to work.

:-(

Can someone recommend inexpensive playback software for Windows 7?

No its not cheap, its free.

makemkv.com/
Their 'streaming' capability allows any http: capable media player software (e.g VLC) to play blu-ray discs straight from the optical drive.
You can even stream them to other PCs/Devices that support the right codecs across your network.

great. thanks to OP. ordered.

Anybody any experience of using this with a Revo 3610???

does this work with a mac?

I'm really tempted to buy this myself (at thehut that is, thanks to iwoot's shipping costs to Germany) but I would love to replace my external HD DVD drive with a BR/HDDVD Combo drive. They don't make these anymore, do they?

So very tempted.... I hate this site! :'( lol

How decent does your laptop need to be to get this to play well, i would consider getting it then connecting laptop to my tv but just wondered what kind of specs my laptop would need to have? I've got a dell inspiron 1525 - 2 ghz, 1.5 gig mem.

Ok, that's it,I give in, I have the will power of a kid in a candy store. Into the basket, out with the plastic. Voted hot, now need a reason to justify it!
This site needs a health warning, or pocket warning.

Does your graphics card have to be HDCP compliant for it to playback a Bluray?

With HD content its more about the graphics card - If you had an intel HD4500 you'll probably be ok.
However i think your lappy has Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, so the answer is, probably not.

Although cyberlink recons you can play bluray on their software using a 1.8GHZ core 2 duo
As far as i'm concerned 3GHZ dual core is recommended for software decoding of HD content.

As far as I know - Not with the software I linked to earlier (MKV Make).
and you definitely don't with slysoft anydvd HD.

I know this might sound a bit daft but can this be taken out of the case and swapped with my laptop dvd drive.

Anyone know if this would work with a Sumvision MKV V2 player?

Anyone know if this requires 1 or 2 usb ports?

Most probably, I don't know why it wouldn't just be a standard laptop drive in an enclosure.

If not a competent person should be able to Frankenstein this into a standard laptop enclosure.

Possibly to play DVD's, I;ve seen partial success on some usb optical drives.

I've not heard of the MKV v2 being able to play back blu-ray discs, I dont think it has the required software for the copy protection. It may be able to play back supported files stored on a blu-ray disc but then again it may not support the blu-ray disc file format.

So potentially under £36.

This is scorchio!

Can this be removed from the caddy and internalised?

Hard to say. Sometimes these enclosures have a standard SATA interface inside, and sometimes the drives are made especially with a USB connector only. The picture looks like the case is integrated with the drive, which would be bad news. But there is really no way to tell for sure until you take it apart.

Anyone knows if this would play blurays on the Vista Media Centre?

Congratulations on an excellent first deal! I hummed over the first one, was very tempted by the second thread, but I cannot think that a fourth one is likely so I got one. Thanks OP.
