9MB/s is fine for general usage. Or at least not useless. A drive of this size most people will not be filling it daily.
They write quite a lot quicker than the quoted speed. Have some more heat.
Nice price for the capacity but @ 3.5m/s, it'll take over 5 hours to fill!
Thanks OP just ordered. 2% Quidco also!!!
Hi about to buy one of these to put mkvs on to plug straight into my tv, will the slow read/write speeds effect the playback of high quiality video files?

You can work it out for yourself - divide the file size by the length of the video, how many MB a second do you need?

Your right. Filled my one and was as fast as my Sandisc Cruzer. Small & solid, Well worth the money. Do not think this will work on a mac. Formats in exFat & NTFS & 58.9gb free mem when i checked the size.

I got one of these a few weeks back (thanks OP) and found that when I re-formatted it with FAT32 it seemed to be significantly quicker writing than when using the NTFS it was originally formatted with.

YMMV but worth a go if you do get one and find it slow.

Thanks

Gavin

That seems to have gone as well, just browse for "160 GB hard drive" and there are plenty.

Depends on your OS.
Some OS's are designed to run from an almost read-only disk (I'm thinking OpenFiler, Esxi...). Windows isn't. If you're constantly writing to your memory stick I think it will die an awful lot sooner than a spinning disk or an SSD.
Lovely, just grabbed one - thanks
crap- bought to use with my Samsung tv,but its still too slow- Sandisk Cruzer much faster than this piece of crap-wasted money
