This is usually £23.50 and is rumoured to be made my Dalmore. Their 12 Yr old is about £45. I am not claiming this is the same whisky but in my opinion the best malt you can get at this price point.

It's perfectly drinkable but you can almost taste the added colouring...
The problem's finding a Co-op that actually sells whisky and doesn't just have two rows of bleeding wine. Has anyone been able to compare this to the recently replaced Tesco Highland 12yr, which was also most likely a Dalmore? If they're the same whisky then IMO this is probably the best Single Malt you can get for £20.

It is certainly coloured with caramel as stated on the bottle. I like a dram with a slight sweetness and with a drop of water, it is a pleasant dram especially for £20.
Worth a try.

"Almost taste"? What does that mean? Surely either you can taste it, or you can't? Or are you just pointing out that it's got added colouring?
Please accept my most humble apologies, Dodgy62. My very brief comment clearly doesn't meet your standards so let me elaborate...

Flavour isn't all about your taste buds is it? The presentation of the foodstuff, what you see and smell, can alter your perception of flavour and have a psychological effect.

The odd colour of this particular whisky suggests that it may taste of caramel before you actually taste it.

Can i taste the caramel with my taste buds? Maybe.
Can I smell caramel? My brain thinks it's a possibility.
Is my brain being fooled by the colour of it? Yes. That's the whole point of adding it!
Did a quaff a bottle without complaint? YUP!

I don't know how else to placate you other than apologising once again...

Have you ever done a Pepsi challange with this and Dalmore 12?

Plus Dalmore use the exact same colouring in their whiskys which sell for considerably more than this. And its due to the same die and markings on the bottle that make people think its made by Dalmore.

I am just curious therefore how they taste in a pepsi challange.
No I haven't. However - it will all taste the same with Pepsi added to it
Picked up a bottle yesterday. Can definitely see and taste the similarities to Dalmore. Very drinkable and would buy again for sure.
