I thought I would post a very good deal I got on house and contents insurance with the Co-op, which was much cheaper than other quotes I got and my family have been pleased with the quality of their claims service over the years.

I paid £213 for £500,000 buildings cover (£100 excess), £52,000 contents cover (£50 excess), £2,500 personal possessions away from home including bikes (£50 excess) and Home Rescue Plus (no excess). I appreciate quotes may vary, but for me this is very good value. The Co-op don't come up on price search engines or cashback sites, but they offer decent value and service I think so worth a look.

£500K comes as standard, which saves working out what the rebuilding cost needs to be (slightly under £500K in my case! )
home insurance based on postcode, house size, claim history+ loads of other things...i bet co-op will not be cheap for most buyers!
That seems a pretty good price with the outside personal possessions cover as well. I recently was quoted £167 for the same standard Buildings and Contents cover from Churchill with their half price home insurance offer (don't know if it is still running) so may be worth getting a quote off them too.

Some of the companies I looked at charged extra for legal cover and loads more for the home emergency cover, plus £100 excesses seemed the norm whereas I only wanted £50 for contents. Yes, it'll depend on postcode and claims history etc. (I've claimed once in the last three years) The best advice is always to shop around, just be careful of the comparison sites which don't include the likes of the Co-op.
My family have used CoOp for 30 years but not anymore they have been difficult to say the least on my dad's car insurance, he died and I was a named driver and they wanted an extra £250 to switch it to my name (I have full NCB on my own) the renewal was £1080 and I switched it to AXA for £464. House insurance has also gone up a t renewal trying to talk to them about it is pointless
I bought this insurance 3 months ago & saved £100 on my renewal. Similar price to yours MarkShopper and very good value. Will no doubt increase next year but i'll change company's again.
I've been with the Co-op for 3 years and they wanted £270 to renew last October. I used the comparison sites (Co-op do come up on them) and they quoted the same renewal price except for Moneysupermarket.com who quoted £209. I phoned the Co-op but they couldn't get near that price so they advised me to tell them I wasn't renewing and then just take out a new policy through Moneysupermarket. So I did that without any problem and am still insured with the Co-op.

I have been with Coop for the last 3 years for buildings no one can beat them for me. However for contents they work out more for me. I did also have to make a claim once and the process was simple and hassle free.
Thanks for the help.csiman,im off to checkout Sheilas Wheels
