one of these years i'm going to figure out a non-seasonal use for this stuff, buy it all up in january and eat like a king all year.
You can add it to a baked apple ( microwave even), use in bread pudding and make apple and mincemeat tart x

no, it's a historical naming holdover. the specific pastry (mincemeat pies) at one point were savoury and came with meat, but gradually they transformed into a sweet dish and had their internals replaced with a filing made of sugar, fruits and spices, but kept the name. thus "mincemeat" refers to the filling.
