Just picked a few of these up to take to work...

I got the Cherries & Berries, and Whole Lemon varieties.

Both double concentrate, no added sugar. Not sure if any other varieties are in the offer.

Will try that. Thanks miikey

Is this one of their weekend offers they used to have?

Not sure tbh. Just spotted it today, didn't see when it ends though, should have checked really!

Possible 10% off if you took out the Graduate NUS card a few weeks ago (or signed up last year)

Be careful of all this no added sugar rubbish; it is best to check if they contain any artificial sweeteners such as " aspartame " , which is toxic ( do a search on the dangers of ). I suspect these do

No aspartame in these.

These do have aspitame in them I've only found sainsbury are the only ones who don't have it In

Aspartame*

this reminded me of the thread the other day about "Don't buy Loved by Us from the Co-op", can't find it now but it was strange!

They don't. I've checked the ingredient list.

Hot if they don't have aspartame in

Well I guess "Loved by Us" is mildly less insulting to the intelligence than "Chosen by You", especially if not expressed in a patronising Scottish accent.

I hope this double concentrate is better than the frankly awful Robinson's equivalents. I'm a fan of Robinson's regular blackcurrant and apple (with sugar of course) squash, but their double conc version was so foul, I had to dispose of it. I'm never convinced about own-brand squash - some can be good, but many have a nasty flavour. Also own-brand versions are more likely to change the flavour recipe (usually for the worse...it happens when the supplier [and usually the outer label] changes) than branded ones.

Hi Daffy , we use this when the ' Youth Hostel ' a,k,a, ' The House ' is full of ankle snappers , X)
I prefer the ' Cherries and Berries ' and the ' Summer Fruits ' flavours and they don't have that awful ' sugar - free ' after taste you sometimes get with other cordials

Yea, but come on... Don't let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory about population control

Aspartame is an exctoneurotoxic carcinogenic drug. It is particularly dangerous as it
contains three neuro toxins:
methanol, aspartic acid and phenylanine. Also it breaks down into Formic acid
( which is used as a pesticide ),
Formaidehyde ( an ingredient in embalming fluid ), and Diketopiperazine

‘The European patent for aspartame is now available online,
freepatentsonline.com/EP0…tml
and it confirms the
artificial sweetener is made from the waste products of genetically modified
E. coli bacteria.

Though this fact was reported as early as 1999, not much attention was paid at the
time to aspartame and its maker Monsanto, which was allegedly adding GM aspartame
to soft drinks in Britain.

The patent refers to “cloned microorganisms” later revealed to be genetically
modified E. coli bacteria. They are modified to produce an especially large
peptide used to create aspartame.’

What emotive nonsense - pesticides, embalming fluid, e. coli. You could find things like that to say about just about anything if you wanted to. How much damage does sugar do? Hint: obesity and type 2 diabetes rates.

Tony B,liar wouldn't lie would he ? We would not go to an illegal war over invisible, non existent WMD would we ?
Not to mention Gulf War 1 and all the US and UK soldiers/veterans now ill and unable to work as a result of the multi vaccinations they had !

What's that got to do with aspartame? oO

The poster should have stated this is THE SOUTHERN CO-OP which is different to most CO-OP you get in other parts of the UK.

They have their own deals and not UK wide...

Didn't even occur to me that it was a southern co-op. When I need milk, I don't tell the wife, I'm just off to the southern co-op.... I go to the co-op. Apologies for not distinguishing between the varieties for the deal though.

Yep, I really need you to spell out how a universally available chemical additive that has undergone dozens of enormous published trials by organisations all over the world over many years is comparable to secret intelligence gathered by a government-controlled agency from a repressive regime to which the public has no access by a government that clearly had a vested interest in distorting such information.

The trouble with you conspiracy theorists is that you have no sense of proportion and hence think that plainly daft comparisons like that are valid.

Just like you have I'm afraid. All these sites and people supporting the anti-aspartame group sell something from aspartame detox kits to books.

Meanwhile back to reality. Aspartame is not cancerous in humans nor can it have an excitoneurotoxic effects in humans. Yes aspartame is metabolised into those three things. However, you are unaware of the actual biochemistry.

Phenylalanine and aspartic acid are amino acids. These are found naturally in our diet and synthesised in our bodies. Methanol is found in a range of things including fruit and veg and produced in the body in much higher amounts than you will ever consume. A banana has more methanol in than you would get from a can of diet coke for example.

Methonol is broken down to formic acid via formaldehyde, these are natural pathways that the body has been doing for millennia for the methanol we absorb in our diets. Formaldehyde and formic acid are almost immediately eliminated in the body.

Diketopiperizine occurs naturally during amino acid synthesis and breakdown. We form it when digesting any protein source.

Here's a fun fact, 1 jelly bean has 45x the amount of formaldehyde, due to the pectin, compared to the breakdown of the aspartame in a can of diet coke. And we never eat a single jelly bean at a time.

Ah yes Mr Blaylock who unsurprisingly has a range of books, diets and supplements to help you deal with the effects of aspartame consumption. He also believes that essentially aspartame is part of a government mind control scheme and is an anti-vaccine enthusiast. I suspect he is where you have gotten the vaccines and veteran's illnesses rubbish from too.

This study involved huge amounts aspartame fed to rats. I'm not a rat tbh, I have a different brain and metabolism and no one ever consumes the amounts they were given. Also the tumours were never linked or proven to be caused by aspartame, i.e correlation does not mean causation. Cancer Research UK states there is no evidence linking aspartame and cancer. These animal studies are not always repeatable and the overwhelming evidence proving that aspartame is not carcinogenic in humans is never enough compared to the occasional misrepresented and cherry picked study. This is why large scale systemic reviews are crucial as they look at all the evidence and critically analyse it. The 2013 EFSA
Review is a good example, 400 pages if you fancy a good read!

Again, misinformation. Yes E.coli is used as the vector to mass produce the 2 amino acids making up aspartame. However fecal matter is ridiculous and is in the same context as oxygen is tree fecal matter. We are breathing in tree feces how disgusting and outrageous! Genetically modified is technically true but not in the negative way you are thinking. Infact most biosynthesis of chemicals and drugs (including antibiotics, hormones et ) are produced this way, E.coli (a harmless strain of course, not the stomach bug) is one of if not the most used in this way. Others include yeasts like Saccromyces.

TLDR - why are you not as skeptical of what you read against the consensus than what you are of the consensus. Don't be a skeptic, be a critic so you can be open minded but filter out the rubbish and salesmen.
