Good deal, just dont forget to book with life insurance !

After once having to use these from Liverpool to London, I swore that I would never use them again...so far, so good

Why not?

It would help us to know, as we are considering travelling with them.

For £2.50 return it would have to be VERY bad.
Cold vote all you like....hope it helps someone.

Only ever had to use them once, when inconveniently the car had to go in for major repair and we had a flight from an airport 100 miles away, didnt have any problems ourselves...cant say I would like to be on them for any longer than 2 hours maximum though....I guess the scare stories of crashes and tired drivers is enough to put some people off though.

cold for me as everytime i try to book tickets with this offer, my total still ends up around £120, even when i choose the pound fairs:x

My son travels from Uni in Canterbury a lot with them but he is a student and used to roughing it a bit!!! Heis always happy with the service.
I think if the journey time is fairly reasonable (i.e no more than 2-3 hours) it's fine-I wouldn't want to travel to Newcastle from London though.

cheapest i can get is £66 for 4 x £1 seats....??????

Used them lots of times, I find them fine. It's a means to an end. It's obviously not as quick or comfortable as the train but it is a lot lot cheaper. The coaches are as comfortable as you would expect and the journey is no longer that it needs to be. The funfares are usually limited in number and only for certain journeys but they are well worth it.

I would definitely recommend National Express for value, especially in comparison to the extortionate fares charged by the railway companies! Admittedly being a BOF I pay half fare (except Fridays) which I can book and ticket online. So for me, £4.50 return from Gatwick to London compared to well over £20 by rail. As for comfort, well upholstered seating as compared to the "park benches" now favoured by the TOCs. If you can get the OP deals then that's simply icing on the cake. As to safety I am not aware of it being worse than the railways, the drivers are professionals and in some 5 years of using this company I have seen nothing to shake my confidence in them. I suspect that you are much safer than in your own car!

Very good price, but don't think I'd ever take a coach again. When low on funds, once went from Torquay to London and took 6.5 hours stopped everywhere! Would have been 3 hours on the train and only 12 quid more.

You're doing something wrong i'm afraid

This is hot for me. I've taken the National Express twice between London and Birmingham (non-stop) and was a perfectly fine trip. The first time there was hardly anyone on the bus. Just need to zone out with some travel entertainment.

There is no more affordable way to travel.

I just did a test one for London-Manchester, departing March 1st, back on March 4th. Lots of £1 fares and worked fine.
Maybe they are exeperiencing a lot of bookings at the moment...stick with it...it does work!

I want to go london liverpool return in the next few weeks, all minimum of 10 - 15 each way fun fares. Voted COLD!

Well aren't you the clever one. Read the original post.
Late Feb to end of March?? :whistling:

Whatever days I put in (and chose from £1 fare) the total comes back £89 for plymouth to bristol and £110 plymouth to london. Cant find any dates or fares for either for £1. Cold

Booked on a Funfare tomorrow Manchester - London (£4.50 return all in for 2 people). Booked on last set of funfares though mind. Should be good.

Ridiculous.

Well i just spent approx 30 secs on the plymouth/bristol route. Leaving 1st March, returning the next day, click on the two 'from£1' fares, continue to the next screen and it gives you a list of prices, the bottom one being the Funfare at...guess what?....£2.50.

Some people!

Thanks for this, fancied a quick visit to London when I have a few days off work in early-March. H&R added.

Depart: MANCHESTER to LONDON
Return: LONDON to MANCHESTER
Total Fare: £2.50
£2.50 (includes 50p booking fee)

Cramped seats, so I couldn't even open my laptop properly. There were 2 coaches on, with one supposedly being an express to London. Neither were, we stopped off at 5 different places together. It took an age, was uncomfortable, noisy and too warm.

Thanks for responding to my question, mminghella.

havent managed to get a route which actually costs one quid.any ideas anyone?not even for a manchester-notts journey on 6 march! anyone tried?

That's just your bad luck!

And I have used them many times and they are safe and reliable as far as I've known.

You scaremongers stop playing pundit and grow up.
