*Update* 7/5/20 - Dropped from £34.99 - £32.99

These may come in handy for outdoor hikes / camping etc once lockdowns finally over -

The product title states 10km range, but description says 8km.. So I'm not too sure which one it is, but I'll keep 8km in the title as the box says 8km range..

Next cheapest price I could was Amazon for £48.55. (Minus Zavvi, which is the same company as IWOOT but charges £1.99 for delivery) reviews do seem slightly mixed - I guess range etc will depend on terrain/weather conditions.

If you buy these hoping to talk to someone 8km then unless your in the middle of nowhere on top a hill then you will be disappointed.

However for using on campsites, around the park etc you should be fine. Set them up with DCS "privacy" tones and you should not get any breakthrough.

USB charging is a nice feature.

Good price too

Yep.... The gerneal rule is that you need to be within a few hundred metres at most......of if you're really lucky, 1km with clear line of sight and a following wind!

They should've said that for certain words it can be up to 1000 miles, like "shhhhhhh.." etc.

Similarly (retired from 30+ years working for an IC company), you would be most unlikely to get a range of more than a couple of miles unless both ends of the link are line-of-sight to each other and better still if 1 or both users are on top of the highest points in the area.
The frequencies used are just below our UHF TV bands (channel 21 is at 470 MHz and these are at around 446 MHz).
Boris uses these for his Cobra meeting 💪
