If anyone is interested in radios but don't have friends or family willing to partake in your interest, or just want other people to talk to then there is a group you can join every Sunday at 8pm. Channel 8 on these radios.

Try to get up somewhere high, like at the top of your local road/hill with as much clear views of the horizon as possible (these are line of sight radios), and try asking if anyone is out there at 8pm on a Sunday. Chances are there is going to be someone close by you, and certainly will be shortly after Christmas (although, expect lots of kids messing around).

These are licence free and are a brilliant stepping stone into amateur radio, or in the lesser used CB radio setups.

    No.
They are really good for the price but they don't have a headphone/microphone socket or access to the CTCSS sub channels.

    Hi
I'm new to these. If I buy a pack and another relative buys a pack can we still speak to each other?
    Avatar
yes, from the description on ebuyer, they dont even have to be the same brand:

" An impressive feature of the following two-way radios is, they can connect to any other PMR446 radio. This means you can easily connect to friends or family with a different brand of unlicenced Two-Way Walkie Talkie. "
