Coca-Cola 'buy one, get one free' for Designated Driver campaign

Banned
Heard about this on the radio in the car earlier...

Designated Driver is a nationwide campaign that rewards drivers who choose not to drink during the festive season with ‘buy one, get one free’ on soft drinks.

We run the scheme in partnership with the Department for Transport’s (DfT’s) THINK! road safety campaign.

Er... two soft drinks for the price of one, perhaps?

Should be free really, if they were serious about giving non drinkers an incentive

It's a coca cola promotion why would they offer a free coke if your mate purchased a fosters.

Don't be so naive and think this is anything other than a marketing Campaign

Stupid marketing campaign, Because the only reason people drink drive is the lack of decent offers on soft drinks...

Well, I guess they're trying to look like they're being socially responsible by giving you 2 for 1. But the fact is, you're still paying £1.70 for something that costs them about 2p per glass!

I've edited I didn't proof read

This will be great with a JD, get 2 cokes for 1 and then just buy neat JD all night.

How can you call me brainless then? for me calling this **** marketing campaign, ****

I don't even know what you are getting at?

don't be so rude.

Or your mate buys a double shot to share separate coke and bingo..a free coke. If you catch my drift?

I genuinely don't understand.

I don't visit pubs anymore to socialise, but when I was younger I remember buying a glass of coke and it costing more then a pint of beer. It was retarded, even with out the 1/3 glass of ice.

BOGOF deals like this really isn't going to help things along. Maybe give free softs with every pint sold, sell them as free soft refills or simply a vast reduced price would help.

As it stands, the designated driver is not drink, won't be drunk and WILL still remember being ripped off the morning after.

that's what I meant, I've just read your comment.

Is there a list of pubs offering this ? Cant seem to see

Or even better the designated driver stay at home put your feet up and let the **** heads get a taxi....cheapskates.

Sorry but voted cold. Year after year they've offered free soft drinks for the designated driver, which was a good effort. This just seems like mininal effort for free marketing.

How about some free beer for the designated drinkers - that's hot!

They normally give a voucher for the 2nd soft drink meaning you don't have 2 at one time, agree it's a Marketing campaign but hey if your not drinking alcohol why not get kept in soft drinks for half price. Although I would hope the drinkers your driving would have the courteously to keep you in your preferred soft drink all night.

I wish more pubs did bottled water. If you don't want or don't like fizzy drinks, you're normally stuck with J2O (which seems to bloat me), or those miniscule bottles of Britvic orange if they have them.

Irony much?

all walkabout chain bars give free soft drinks to desi drivers all year around. just has to be minimum 4 people in party and car keys need to be shown.

I've never understood why drivers keep drinking soft drinks "just so they've got a drink in their hand". Makes zero sense.

Maybe because they're thirsty?

Non-drinker here, and it's nice to see /any/ deal that targets me!

As a note, this deal won't help in any way with the dreaded words: "Is Pepsi OK?" (*shudders*)

Just a marketing deal, Coke get the publicity and the Landlord has to cough up the drink at a cost to them. No assistance from Coca-Cola at all.

I'm a designated driver today for our Christmas meal at work, but can't seem to find if my pub is participating.

Never understood the designated driver thing.

Get a bus or a taxi or a train to wherever you are all going, then everyone can drink!

Some people dont ever drink ever you utterly ignorant buffoon.
yes dean_brfc that is aimed directly at you.
We dont all need to drink to escape our bristolian upbringing..
