Thanks for this op, I have heard loads about this, but have never looked into it. I suffer from anxiety quiet alot, most times it is uncontrollable and although I can feel inside myself that my body is anxious I dont seem mentally anxious. This unfortunately for me flairs up ibs symptoms for me, therefore I am hoping that reading this can help to relieve my anxiety.

Have you not done a course of CBT? Your GP should be able to recommend you

No I haven't, although I have done some research and have found out that you can refer yourself under the NHS and see a professional whom can help you with techniques in regards to undertaking cbt.

If you aren't anxious mentally then CBT won't work.

Same boat as me. I don't have the irrational thoughts, worries or phobias but do experience the symptoms for no known reason.

CBT is a self help thing. It gets you to challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts and step outside your comfort zone. If your problem is symptom based with no mental triggers then CBT won't change a thing.

Better off trying meds like propanalol

+1 for Propanalol, take about 30 minutes before an event that you know is going to cause you anxiety (public speaking, meetings at work etc) and no shakes or sysmptoms of anxiety.

It's very good, simply does what it says on the tin.

You just need to find the right dosage for you......for me, I need 8 x 10 mg pills to get through, your mileage might vary.
I have anxiety too and don't ever feel like people have taken it serious or even helped. I had to help myself by reading a book! And realising I was quite normal and not going barmy!. Thanks for the post x
