I remember compeed as being plasters for blisters which were great for running but after a little google there seems to be compeed for coldsores too. Did you see the compeed blister packs there too?

They had both cold sore and the blister ones in the one in glasgow:thumbsup:

Thanks great! Thanks!

Mind this topical cream isn't like cheese and onion crisps ie shouldn't be taking it at every opportunity. 'Cold sores' is a virus and like anything that stops a virus it's got some virus in it. So if you keep using the cream you're rubbing the virus into your face.

And like all herpes, once you got it, it's staying. There's far better ways to manage outbreaks rather than rub more virus into your gob.

Be careful out there.

And? This stuff deals with the symptoms, and the symptoms are the problem.

Besides the fact that acyclovir is not a "virus", can you enlighten us as to these "far better ways" please?

Not really. You're rubbing in a chemical that interferes with the virus' replication enzyme. That way it doesn't spread as much and it's easier for your immune system to destroy. Probably why acyclovir is apparently only really useful at the start of an outbreak.

I love the way some people make idle statements like they are fact - you obviously dont know what your talking about.:whistling:

Maybe Fujioka is a "Christian Scientist"? S/he seems to be getting mixed up with vaccinations, which are indeed derived from the disease you are trying to stop, in order to stimulate the immune system to generate antibodies for the disease, which will cause the disease to be attacked as soon as an infection starts. As far as I know, this stuff doesn't work in the same way at all.

Been fighting with cold sores for years now, none of the creams, Tlc, toothpaste, whatever else treatment worked for me.
However, the Compeed 'stickers' are brilliant, my one penny is on them!
