these scales aren't that great. Bought them on saturday this week did a hefty amount of baking on saturday and now tried to measure pasta today and its ran out of battery already. my last salter digital scales lasted over a year on the one battery and had an automatic switch off, these however do not which is why i think its no longer working

Yes! I totally agree with the above.

I bought the wife these scales and only today I said "blooming ek, the battery is nearly flat" we have only had them 2 weeks and used them twice.......................... mmmmmm! these batteries are expensive, Our last set of scales used normal AA batteries....... lol

very similar ones in B&M for same price....had mine over a year still on the same bettery!

Bought a set of cheap Salter ones previously and they were utter rubbish. Went back to mechanical scales but now finding they are not accurate enough and a general pain to use. Might have tried these Argos ones were they in stock in area.

I got these scales two weeks ago, they are great for the money!!!! You can change the unit of measurement from grams, ounces and mls ..... Bargain for the price

What exactly are these intended to be 'colour matched' with? Surely nobody has anything remotely similar to this in their kitchen.

These look suspiciously like the ones I got from Aldi a year ago, same problem.
Aldi replaced with a stainless steel model...not what I wanted, so I removed the battery and continued using the black glass ones.
They do still occasionally refuse to switch on, and I have to remove the battery and warm it in my hand for a few seconds....if that fails, swap the battery with a different one...not necessarily a new one
It just seems to get fed up with the same old battery and needs a break from it! X)

These scales switch off after 2 minutes and 30 seconds when not in use......................... meaning automatic switch-off.

So why is my battery showing half level just after 2 weeks............. lol

You might have a faulty one then.

But still our battery is half flat or half full and it does turn off after 2.5 minutes......... Maybe the battery that comes with these scales are cheap, old and lacking a little power................ will find out when new one is fitted I suppose.

Funny you should say you dropped your old scales, thats what I did too. I dropped my wifes fab old scales and thats why I bought this set from Argos to replace............................. oops!

I've had them fall out the cupboard on me a few time and still worked, this time i well and truly dropped from a great height onto a stone floor. so mad as i needed a set to finish baking.....argos was the 4th shop i went into to get a set of scales (technically i could have bought in tesco the 2nd store but refused to pay £24 when i paid £9 for my original scale)

Just tried the auto shut off on the new set and it is working!!:D
