This seems ideal as a first learning clock - the time sections are labelled and it even has 5 minute interval numbers around the outside and labelled minute and hour hands which some learning clocks don’t have. Looks cute and colourful.
  • Quartz movement.
  • Diameter 25cm.
  • D3.7cm.
  • Batteries required 1 x AA (not included)

Nice find.

Yes I looked at this one too, it has a nice design also. But I prefer the Argos one as not only is it cheaper, it has the 5 minute time intervals labelled, whereas the Dunelm one doesn’t.

Don’t see how this is any use to a 4 and 5 year learning to tell the time. It’s up on a wall, they are not going to be able to read the small print let alone understand fractions. It looks overly complicated too to be honest, since when is 3 different shades of the same colour going to help learn 5 minute intervals? Surely the big numbers 1, 2, 3 are more obvious. 1 lot of 5 is 5, 2 lots of 5 is 10 and so on.

The colour spectrum of the blue and green segments are also the wrong way around anyway, they restart them selves going dark to light. Common sense would’ve obviously ended on a dark blue.

Heat for the price though but unnecessary poorly implemented product in my opinion which nobody asked for but I’ve enjoyed the unnecessary rant.

The dunelm one looks far superior and more thought put into it. Actually corrects a lot of the wrongs I commented on above

4.8 rating with 89 fantastic reviews. Each to their own I guess
Would this keep the time do people think?

It’s quartz and has great reviews, so I don’t see why not (with some good batteries)

I need one of those (the rude one)

As an aside. I like watches, I collect watches (albeit rather modest ones, compared to some).

My niece has just turned ten and I bought her a Tikkers watch last Xmas, to teach her how to tell the time - with a promise I'd get her a more "grown up" glittery, girly one as a gift, once she'd mastered it.

She says, "I don't need to learn how to tell the time, I've got a computer and a phone". I despair

This is not well designed for little ones IMO. My 5 year old understands the concept of time and numbers but not yet how fractions are shown (1/4, 1/2, 3/4).

I guess this one could be suited to when slightly older, or you could use this one to familiarise with time phrase fractions. The Dunelm one (£10) has it in words if that helps you.
I think the Easyread clocks are better for learning:

Lazy parents would buy it

Actually,my son is in year 2 (6-7 years) and are only just starting on time as part of the national curriculum...so this clock would be ideal for an older range than you suggest.
Hate people, as in adults, who say 45 past., :/
This looks great, heat added. Just ordered one as will be perfect for my 4 year old

I knew a lady who could NOT work out how to decipher the 24 hour clock. To be fair, she wasn't the smartest bulb in the box.

Yes the dunelm one looks great, I’m just saying this Argos one is a poor alternative for the sake of £4.

£4 is almost 2x Argos clocks. Not sure the Dunelm is very much better - I think the Argos one looks calmer anda bit less ‘busy’ on the eye too.
Ordered 2. Great to have around the house for the kids
