Uncomfortable saddles are one of the biggest complaints in bike reviews: frankly most are cheap and nasty to go on cheap bikes or just a 'get you home' item before you fit your old favourite on better bikes. Typical replacement saddles are £20 and upwards - some a long way upwards - and fancy brand names are no guarantee of comfort either!

Here's a Halfords own brand cheapie (£20!) for comparison:
halfords.com/cyc…dle

And once you choose a brand name you're talking £50 and up:
halfords.com/cyc…dle

Well, this may be a good solution to get you back out there on the bike again when the better weather eventually arrives: for just £7.99 Lidl are offering ergonomically designed saddles with memory foam in three styles: City; Trekking and Mountain.

You won't really know if they're right for you until you've put a good few miles on them, but the designs are promising and, in the worst case, you've blown less than eight quid, not fifty plus! I have a couple I like from a Lidl event several years ago so they get transferred each time I change bikes: I don't believe truly comfortable bike saddles actually exist, but these are better than any others I've tried.

The Lycra brigade will tell you they're heavy: I happily trade a few grams for a bit more comfort and you could always skip the third Weetabix that morning anyway!

Standard rail fitting for use on the vast majority of seat posts.

Lots of other bargain bike goodies from Thursday too.

These Lidl/Aldi bike events are very popular and most of the stuff is pretty good so you're advised to shop on the day for best selection.

Halfords are expensive for accessories as are most large chain stores and local bike shops but you can get saddles from ebay for as little as £4 delivered with excellent reviews. You can get saddles that looks similar to Lidl's or better for less than £6.

I missed that and it didn't show up in a search - I found it in Lidl's email. Heat added to the other post now.

No harm done - helps to point out such a good deal as well as that listing: good stuff gets lost in a general post I think and I did a bit of work to show how competitive they are. Perhaps the other poster should post the better items individually so they don't get missed (eg the bike workstand)?

Anyway, I'll be there on Thursday for a couple more!

Has any one came across any of the cycling deals I’ve been to 3 stores today and none had any cycling equipment except a can of chain cleaner.

Yep, went to Lidl Redditch today for a saddle and they had the whole range.

You didn't go to Aldi by mistake did you?

That’s for the reply, I went to Lidl we don’t have an Aldi yet here in Northern Ireland. I’ll try another Lidl on the way home today.

Ahh - I think Lidl may have deals on a regional basis? Worth checking on line and they may say what's available where you are: could save a wasted journey!

Just checked: top right on the home page and allow it to know where you are. Sorry if my post has wasted your time.
