This is the upcoming expansion pack for Red Alert 3 that is only being released digitally on 13/03/2009 , the next cheapest price is £14.67 at Gamesplanet.com so this is a damn good deal if you're looking to purchase this.

The voucher is only valid until the end of February so you have until then, if you're giving heat please also pass it on to Mum2Connor&Cerys for finding the voucher in the first place

For anyone considering this, please note my comments posted in the Red Alert 3 Thread elsewhere.

To summarise:

1) Digital Download is only available for a year unless you pay £2.99 which extends it to 5
2) EA Support have said that their system doesn't allow backing up to DVD of your purchase (This may have changed recently)
3) EA's system has some incompatibilities with certain machine configurations (64-bit being a prime example)
4) You have no support once you're outside of the Download Window, so if it doesn't work, you're out of luck. Also, there is no mention of whether you'll still receive updates once your year is up...

I prefer the physical media over this option, if it exists. Alternatively, Steam is a much better option than the EA Service.

According to the OP the physical media doesn't exist - that's a bit weird on EA's behalf, forcing you to use their service... *sigh* What is the world coming to? I still want to be able to play my game in years to come, I may never play it again, but having the option there is good.

Yeah I'd agree it sucks it being released only digitally but without a physical release digital purchase is your only choice (as specified in the original post). A useful note is that it deosn't cost you £2.99 for the extra 5 years backup at the moment, I ordered it tonight and it was added free so I shouldn't have nay problems for 5 years at least (by which time hopefully there'll be a physical copy for the £4.67 I saved on initial purchase :thumbsup:)

Is there any reason for the cold votes by the way, it's £4.67 cheaper than everywhere else and you cannot buy it any other way than digitally. As stated on many occasions on this site please vote on the deal not product, if you object to digital only distribution fair enough but you can always not vote.

Yesasia seems to be doing a dvd version of up rising.

Cool, well worth a go that one. Would try it but already made use of my own deal so too late, thanks for the heads up though at means there may be a chance of a future physical copy released in the UK directly..

I'm not voting hot or cold and i'm not 'hating' but here is my 2 cents;

EA are money-grabbing *****. They are too fond of releasing a half-arsed attempt of a game and cutting it short so they can sell the rest of the game as an 'expansion pack'

Dont get me wrong, some of the expansion packs are good, but i still think EA could easilly have thrown them into the game without making you shell out an extra amount of cash on them, but hey, if you're after it, £9.99 isn't bad

well heres one sale EA have lost from me then as i want the DVD to go with my Red Alert 3 DVD cant be hard can it.
