Red alert was fantastic - hated the generals series... "I camp in the morning"...

Gotta agree with you Red alert was awesome, was so let down by generals, brought it for full price when it came only played it twice and still sits on the shelf lol

Hot! Great price for the amount of games, even if they're not all to everyone's liking. IMO worth £5 just for Red Alert and Renegade (yeah, I'm one of the only people that liked that game).

Ah Red Alert...how I miss you

No one enjoy the original C&C?!?!
I **** loved it!

Been this price for an age but still hot!

Generals plus the Progen mod was fantastic.
My housemate and I used to play this into the night to put off starting uni coursework due to the following morning...

Many hours sunk into zero hour online. They were the days.lol

I think I know the answer to this but can't hurt asking... is this Mac compatible? I don't think it is.

My phone could play 80% of these games. shows how far technology has come

I bought this from gamestation when it was a fiver, there was a few problems getting some of the older games to work, and when they did, the cursor speed was ridiculous. You have to mess around with the settings etc think i gave up on red alert. but otherwise great games

Ah many of hours playing Red Alert 2 and C&C on my PS, great series and well worth £6!

That's what I would worry about, I remember trying to get one of the old ones (original Red Alert?) to run properly on an XP PC & it was awful.
I wonder how these would fare on a Windows 7 PC?

I've loved C&C for years (and yes indeed, even since the 1st one).

Such a shame the way the on-line versions were ruined by cheats, tried it a couple of times & never went back.
Their loss.

Mmmmmm but will these play on Windows 7?

God I love Red Alert 2.

If anyone remembers playing Dune 2?, which was also made by Westwood Studios will know how much of a leap forward the first C&C was, it allowed you to play multi player against a real person. I spent many of hours playing C&C against my friend by connecting to his pc using a UsRobotics 28’000 modem (now there’s a piece of hardware to remember, cost me about £230 :-/ ), had huge phone bills back then. BTW great deal, also whatever happened to Westwood Studios? Such great game developers.

Found out what happened to Westwood Studios, the greed of Electronic Arts ruined them :-(

ahhhh, dune and dune 2. Then cc, red alert, red alert 2... What was it, null modem cable to connect two computers together?! Started with 2400 baud modem on local buletin board. mod files, on pc jeeees this brings back some memories

Anyway, heat added

edit: fasttracker on pc (mod files), pinball fantasies... had to check on youtube

Aye Its a shame about Westwood Studios
Dune what a classic. think ive got it on cd somewhere and you can pick it up quite cheap these days

Had this a while and played Tiberian Sun to death on my old computer which ran on XP but cannot get it to work on my new computer with Windows 7.

If anyone remembers playing Dune 2?

Yup! Played it on my 286. Loved the game.

Anyone noticed that Ordos tended to start out with more money if you played them because overall they were the weakest race.

I'm on windows 7 64bit, 2500k, gtx 560ti, and generally the older the game the harder it was to run. Haven't played them in a while but I'm sure RE2 was fine, just the original was a **** to get to run.

I bought this and tried to load the original C&C but the colours were all over the place on my laptop (Win 7, i3 processor, 3GB RAM).

While the price is great... its been this price for the better part of a year in most online shops

First played Dune 2 on a 486 built by Dan Technology :-). If you want some good old gaming memories go check out the game play of Dune 2 and the first C&C on YouTube.

If anyone is interested in having Red Alert 1 for free (comes on 2 discs) you can download a legit copy from here:
compactiongames.about.com/od/…htm

Also if using windows 7 have a look on YouTube on how to get it running.

Red Alert 2 was such a great game.

Every few years if I get some time, I play RA2 to remind myself what an amazing game it was. Amazing stuff.

I am the proud owner of red alert 3 via Steam and it is unplayable - still play red alert 2 and Yuris revenge - "My mind is weak"
