Yeah i couldn't get past the title screen and that game was the only reason i bought this collection. Back when it was cheap at £15

Servers no longer host games.

I just purchased and download C and C tiberium wars but can't get it to run on windows 10. Tried looking up issues and found about 5 different fixes and couldn't get any to help. Just a warning

I was going to ask have EA updated these to run on more modern machines? its seems even emulating older windows or DOSBOX is not a solution. even at this price your paying for something that doesn't work.

I got some of the older ones such as red alert to run but not the newer one. Yeah it does seem a bit unfair to sell a product that's not guna work for alot of people. Oh well had a couple of hours fun for £5 already tonight so can't complain too much

Well it's not surprising that the official servers no longer exist considering that some of these games are 20 years old now and the company that made them and ran the servers, Westwood, was long ago absorbed by EA who notoriously don't actually care about gaming despite being a games publisher. But there are third party run servers for all of these games except C&C4, which does still seem to have official EA servers through Origin.

CNC Net is a great resource for patching the older C&C games (up to Red Alert 2) plus Dune 2000 to work online. The first three games (C&C, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun) have all been released as freeware so the installers will give you the option of patching the Origin release or a CD version or can just download the whole game for you. You have the option of downloading the multiplayer component separately so there's no need to get the single player campaigns if you just want to play online. For Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge you'll need the games already installed (from Origin or CD) as they're not freeware.

The more recent games (Generals, C&C3, Red Alert 3) used to use GameSpy, which was shut down in May 2014. Fortunately the Revora Network stepped up to provide new multiplayer support using a launcher over at CNC Online

See above for patches that will make the older games work on modern machines. There is even an open source project, OpenRA, that rebuilds C&C, Red Alert and Dune 2000 from scratch, meaning they can run natively even on Linux, which they were never originally developed for. Tiberian Sun is also in the works.

I've never had any problem playing it before and have just tried installing it again this evening under Windows 10 and it's working fine, zero issues or workarounds needed, and I can see other players in the multiplayer lobbies so I assume that works too. What issue(s) are you having?

That also works fine for me in Windows 10. I know some people have had issues with it but mostly it works so it's not Windows 10 itself at fault - could be a conflict with your particular setup, i.e. hardware or drivers. What problem are you having?

Firstly, thanks for a great post! I am well chuffed to be able to get back on dune 2000 =) The issue I am having is when I try and open C and C 3 I get the pop up message "exception in the exception handler". I am running this from a surface pro 3 so I know not ideal.

Fixes I have tried:
Downloading Direct X again.
Running in compatability mode
Changing resolution on laptop
Tried to download and old intel driver but my laptop wouldn't let me put it on.
Turned off origins run in game thing.

As reddragon105 mentioned, through OpenRA you can play Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, Dune 2000 and Tiberian Sun will be along soon (it's in beta testing).

OpenRA is constantly being developed (it's even better than the originals) and it is cross platform: whether on Windows, Mac, or any flavour of Linux, it will be a pain-free install. Also, it's FREE! Here is the link: openra.net/

You can play by yourself, online with people from around the world, or over LAN.

Tiberian Dawn is where the real fight is at - I'm playing that right now!

You can download the game, join online games, etc. here:
openra.net/

In theory, yes, as it's open source, you'd just have to compile it and hope your distro has everything it needs to run. This guy seems to have gotten it working, but no idea what performance is like - OpenRA on Raspberry Pi

Yeah, if it's got Intel HD graphics that could be the problem. An older version of DirectX could help, as mentioned here - answers.ea.com/t5/…842
And someone in that thread also has a Surface Pro and said he got it to work with an older Intel HD driver. It's a pain getting Windows 10 to stop automatically updating them but there are tools to help, such as this one from Microsoft - support.microsoft.com/en-…930

Not as sure about this one. I've seen people saying that running the game directly using CNC4Game.exe (instead of CNC4.exe, which the shortcuts/Origin points to) can help with connection issues, and also to make sure that you don't have multiple instances of CNC4UpdateManager.exe running in Task Manager (which might happen if you've tried to launch the game more than once).

I've already got red alert and tiberium something or other on my steam

I would have gone for this if it wasn't on origin, I don't have anything against it I just would prefer to stick to Steam for my gaming on PC.

Heat added though, love this franchise.
