its not really that retro though, retro would be the games on tape not loading and you sitting there annoyed that you have wasted 30 minutes while nothing happened.
I see how Horace goes Skiing still seems to go ignored as the years pass

All I'm thinking is
Daley Thompson's Decathalon - long jump
Space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space space return
Good way to ruin nostalgic memories these wee retro consoles

Wow that brings back memories! Back in the day when you'd wait 10 mins for it to load to actually want to play this lol

After that I think came Quickshot and then Quickshot 2. No more space and return but a joystick. Happy days
i have one of these.. so much fun and memories.. and trust me the games are still rock hard to play and beat.. you will spend hours using this.. go get one NOW...
Why no Hunchback tho that game was great . Or Arnie1+2 ..........good memories playing c64 but not sure I really want to replay them with the finite time we have lol
Just a heads up that the joystick with this is a peas of sheet (not microswitched) and not all USB ones are compatible.

Speccy ftw

You're just looking at it from a UK perspective though... In the US datasette games were not that prevalent... Albeit a slow drive interface. Even with real C64 hardware these days many are using fast loading drive emulation hardware.

It is true there are some obvious classics missing..... perhaps licencing issues.

I wonder if it can be hacked to run homebrew stuff as well as the included?

I have a retro system set up so just emulate all my stuff on my old gaming pc, but for those without such a thing these minis are quite cool imo.

I had a spectrum and i was so jealous of my mate with the C64,.... because of the KP skips action biker game. it was amazing on the c64, and a totally different game on the speccy.

Last week I discovered the Launchbox emulator front end (launchbox-app.com/) which makes the emulator setup process that much easier - plenty of tutorials for the set up of the different emulator engines within Launchbox can be found on Youtube.

It's super easy to play other c64 games on this
Like a bit of retro but I draw the line at going back further than 16-bits.....
Nostalgia can be a lying bitch
Thanks, ordered
The new one with the full size working keyboard will be much better

I have one of these and one of the actual supported features straight out of the box is being able to run other C64 games from a memory stick. It was originally a bit of a pain where it could only load one at a time but a firmware update changed it so you can stick as many C64 ROMs onto a memory stick as you want.

Here's a guide that goes through the steps of doing it.

And here's the official firmware update.

As far as I know any USB should work on any firmware but like I say, with earlier firmware you can only use one game at a time from what I remember but with the new one you can load as many as you want.

No Wizball.
I loved going to the local shops and Buying £2.99 code masters games for the c64,it made playing games affordable,I enjoyed playing kick start,it didn't take long to wear out a joystick, bit it was nice every so often buying the latest joystick and unboxing it,I'm useless at more modern involved games so wouldn't even think about buying a console that costs a fortune and then add the games probably starting at £40

That is called visiting Costa Coffee now you're an adult.

Part of the knife edge thrill of tape loading was the expectation of disaster. Watching those lines slowly make a picture, get to the final ones....and then it did that flash on the screen thing and crash. Happy days. Even better if you copied the games using a new-fangled tape-to-tape machine from Dixons or Rumblelows. What magical combination of bass and treble will work?!?

Turning a machine on and selelecting a game to play - kids these days don't know they're born! My son told he was bored the other day despite having about 40 games installed. Grrrr..
