+£5 delivery

There is a free delivery option available, and this is a nice little laptop. Have some heat m8.

CPU benchmark is verrrrry good, far better than most laptops that go for £300. Hot!

Good if you're on a tight budget

Ordered one a few hours ago for free store delivery, so hot from me. Spec's unbeatable for this price - dual-core cpu that's nearly as fast as a T4500, spare memory slot for expansion, and 6-cell battery should have a reasonable life. Shame its not got HDMI or a card reader but for the price I can live without (and at least there are 3 USB sockets). Quidco tracked at £6.10 too.

On HP website it states that Wifi is b/g/n and Ram is DDR2 and not DDR3

it really is a good price for every day use so if i wanted to buy a laptop i would not think about it would buy it straight away so hot for me

I wondered, never heard of 6400 (800 MHz) DDR3. That's a shame, Will cost a little bit more for a memory upgrade, but still a good deal. Hot for me.

Was looking at this earlier today at £263 - found it tonight reduced and ordered , pick-up instore tuesday!
Looking for reviews and found this post !

I thought I did well when i bought my MSI T3100 with 3gb ram 500g hd hdmi and good battery life for 263 from argos oulet. This is so tempting upgrade

Just ordered one thanks OP.
Worth pointing out there's around £6 TopCashBack on this too.

Why was it so important to point out that he is autistic?

Excellent, snapped 1 up for myself

does this have hdmi output?

No hdmi - but you could use vga for video and the h/phone socket for audio to connect to a flat screen tv . Vga can handle HD but the onboard graphics may not do more than screen res. - tho' read gma4500m supports upto 1600 x 1200.
Can't find it on notebookcheck

Ordered one for my sister's children --- looks like it'll be ok for homework.

aren't the spec's the same as the emachines at asda for £197 exc bigger hdd here?

Asda link ????? Hope you aren't getting too confused.

Edit - This one ?? itproportal.com/201…97/

Not bad if you can find one but a much slower cpu ,hdmi tho' !!

Out of stock £267

I tried to buy this, but it's store specific. All the stores near me (Wigan) were selling them for £267, the same price as online.

There've been loads of laptop deals this month but I'm going to vote this one HOT because of PRICE and CPU and s/w.

CPU benchmark score 1,502
S/w Non-trial Word and Exel (slimmed down versions with adverts
PRICE £240

Bargain.

Exactly what I was about to post (CPU benchmark)
Providing you are not too fussed about not having HDMI-out, this is the best laptop Tesco are selling at the moment under the £300 mark.
Although this still uses DDR2 memory (therefore slower clock), it's performance is better than other single-core DDR3 based machines, of which more of them are.

Can't find any reviews of this specific model but generally the CQ56 models seem well built and reliable.

Great find, OP.
Though I've just spent about £350 this weekend (buying this and the Acer netbook!)

I agree totally with the 2 guys above. This is the best deal available, the other laptops on here substitute a lower spec processor for more ram etc. At least with this, you could stick in another 2gb of ram.
It may not be the nicest looking laptop around, but its perfect for everything but gaming. (oh and connecting to a hd tv)

Does anyone know where I can get 2gb of the correct ram, so far I have found this:

Does anyone know it it compares to this Compaq model, on sale at Tesco for £279.20 about £40 more.
It seems to have a slightly older and slower Dual Core Celeron T3300 processor but it has a lot more disk space (500GB) and faster too at 7200Rpm the same RAM (although DDR2)
It also says it has dedicated graphics.
Help appreciated!!

So this is the best laptop if you were on a £320 budget? Better than the Dell Inspiron's?

Really depends on what you need from your laptop:
The Dell Inspiron's are slightly better spec'd CPU's (though not by much according to CPUbenchmark.net 1568 vs 1502)
I don't think this has a built-in memory card reader as I can't see this in any of the manuals on HP's website, Dell does.
Obviously Dell has slightly more memory (1GB) and a bigger hard drive (250GB)
Unsure but potentially better graphics on the Dell unit

For me all the above don't really warrant the extra £80 being asked but it's really down to personal preference.

Note that according to specs, neither these laptops have HDMI so if you desperately want this I'd probably go for the Acer which is currently on offer for £279.
All good deals, so much choice! oO

Personally think the Compaq is a much better unit performance-wise. Only possible difference I can see is that Dell has a built-in memory card reader and I'm not sure this one has.

£320 version is a 4gb with 500gb, compared to the other Inspiron with 3gb.

On uses, its going to be used everyday for browsing websites and I like keeping loads of stuff open at once, youtube, facebook, music etc. I don't play games on laptops so it doesn't need the latest graphics, though I did purchase Half-Life 1 collection off steam recently, will that play okay? Not a biggy if it doesn't. Mainly I want a laptop that can be used for a few hours straight, so good battery, no heating issues and can run multiple applications (not graphical programs or anything, just word, internet, youtube, music etc) without stutter
