As far as I can tell, this is a single-core laptop, at this price you should be looking to pick up a dual-core one.

I got one of these 4
£219 refurbished why pay 33% more for new

was gonnna get one but no dual core=bad

Use 3% discount code and get it for £319.13. Got one today and it is a brilliant notebook. Looks and feels much more expensive (especially against the flimsy Toshiba L300 which I was going to get originally)

Major plus point:
Very good Keyboard with dedicated Number Pad (most 15" laptops have only an integrated number pad)
The best Mouse Pad I have ever used
Very fast for a Celeron type processor (faster than Intel Celeron Dual Core 1600 with 2 GB Ram)
3 GB Ram
160 GB HD drive
DVD-RW DL + RAM
Shared graphics NVIDIA GF820M 1.4 MB (which really makes a difference with 3GB Ram - no lagging when multitasking)
15.6 wide screen (most other have 15.4)
Webcam and microphone built-in
HDMI out connector
6 Cell Battery
Dedicated keys for Mouse Pad + Wireless on/off
Very quiet, even when working hard (I am very "noise sensitive")

Would be nice if you can get it cheaper but I would choose the Compaq over any other Laptop I had looked at up to £400.

Of course, this is not a games machine but for Office work, Photoshop and even Video editing perfectly useable and fast. I will put a copy of Windows 7 on it in October and I can see this baby fly.

I had 5 different "refurbished" laptops and they all had hidden faults, which only showed after extensive use (and I'm sure was the reason why they were returned).

I would never buy a refurb laptop again.

Btw, refurbs were from Currys and Comet.
