When I bought the monitor I posted a couple of weeks ago from scan I bought a VGA-HDMI cable from amazon (£2 lots of suppliers) as my cpu has a hdmi slot, works briliantly

Voucher???

Better off with the Acer from Scan, that one has DVI input and HDCP support.

That will only work for very specific situations, only supported on some graphic cards.

A stupidly cheap price!

thermal increase applied.

Sure must be a custom CPU to have HDMI slot. How much did Intel charge you for that X)

Yes, makes it cold - you really want a digital input at these resolutions.

It’s just under £90 at crescentelectronics and Scan.
LED slim line TFT with DVI/VGA inputs and both cables included.

Note: It’s £82.79 at Scan using the Today Only link.

No this one smartass. Not hard to find if you look at the Today Only page.
21.5" Acer S221HQLbd LED Full HD, Black, Widescreen Monitor, 5ms, 1920x1080, 12000000:1, 250cd/m² £82.79

Would be nice but doesn't adding DVI or HDMI add to costs due to EU regs or something?

I've run my 1680x1050 22" monitor at VGA and HDMI and can't see any difference so with a decent VGA cable and graphics I'd hope it'll work ok,

Cheers, just bought 3 of the Acers from scan. (£82 each & free delivery)

Was tired of using my 42" TV as a primary monitor (with 2 ancient 19" 1280x1024 slung either side).

Finally will be able to try out eyefinity @ 5760x1080 =D

:edit:

Had a problem with one of the 3 monitors mentioned above; it's VGA input gave a yellow tint to everything it displayed.
Swapped the monitors around so the troublesome monitor was driven by DVI, and one of the others was using the VGA - and the problem went away.

I guess the troublesome one has a badly calibrated vga input.
Apart from that, they're great little monitors.
They manage to be so slim & light by having the AC to DC converter external to the monitor; meaning I have 3 more black bricks under my desk!

The only other troubles i've had are because of ATI/AMD's lackluster CCC/Vision control panel; in short, t's a buggy piece of crud.
Switching between 3 indepdenent 1920x1080 desktops, and 1 eyefinity span 5760x1080 desktop *should* be as simple as using a hotkey to switch between two preconfigured driver profiles.
However the profiles are buggy, and the switching process even more so.
As with SLI, Eyefinity appear to be little more than a buggy, poorly supported gimmick.

Still, having a huge desktop is kinda nice - and the power savings Vs my old 42" HDTV are probably considerable.
Don't regret the purchase.
