Comparison of Couriers - MyHermes & Collect+ (From Small Parcels to Heavy ones)

Hello HUK Dealers,

I remember once upon a time there was this fantastic thread showing people the best courier services, but seeing as many have upped their prices i thought it would be a good idea to have a new one. I will be comparing prices for things as small parcels weighing 0-2kg and heavy parcels as big as 15kg (incl economy option and first class with compensation if available)

I'll try to make this as comprehensive as possible, although there will be a lot to cover. Please see first post.

Also use the code CLTNS14 for 25% off MyHermes For new customers/new email addresses (thank you misskt!)

My Hermes is the best option in most cases.

Collect plus standard (2 days): Drop to a shop - £9.29
Collect Plus economy (3-5 days): Drop to a shop - £8.29]

Conclusion of Heavy Parcels
MyHermes seems to be the best option so far unless there are certain restrictions which i will mention at the bottom

Very Heavy Parcels (Only Done by MyHermes) 10-15kg
[My Hermes Standard (2 days): Drop to a shop - £9.60
My Hermes Economy (3 days) Collect from home - £9.60]

Sum up
It seems as though MyHermes is the cheapest courier for all parcels unless of course you need one sent as a matter of urgency and there is no MyHermes drop shops nearby. These results did surprise me considering I normally use Collect Plus most of the time. I hope I have helped many of you guys and as this did take a lot of effort and time please help others see this and hit that hot button (literally :p)

Good work, azainah - thank you!

Thank you

I've been using collect plus for anything that Royal Mail charge too much for, didn't know that My Hermes was cheaper
do they do a referral discount for new accounts?
thank you

use code CLTNS14 for 25% off also. For new customers/new email addresses

I also use Collect+ for nearly everything now and had no idea My Hermes was cheaper, although when you take the £1 quidco or £1.05 TCB cashback, then its still cheaper at Collect+...but that is on a 3-5 day service, so if you need it going quicker, then MyHermes is best bet for a two day service....will definitely try them out next time as the nearest drop locker is only around the corner from me

Only trouble with my Hermes is they tend to leave your parcels laying about where people can see them in all weathers. Several times I have had parcels just left lay next to my door when they can't get an answer within 10 seconds.

They use self-employed local couriers ... so tbh it really depends on what the person in your area is like. It certainly doesn't reflect on them all. My Hermes courier is a top bloke (I send/receive a fair amount via him) - never had an issue.

Mine too. Never had a problem

Just a warning I sent a parcel via MyHermes and paid extra for signed for and the driver never got a signature (driver put his own note on the signature saying he left it laying around) and the parcel was lost. Personally will NEVER EVER use them again, no matter how cheap.

Thanks.

In my experience My Hermes never answer calls making it really difficult to arrange a redelivery.

Thanks :-)

Heat for effort - I stopped using Collect+ when they increased their prices a few months ago. Good service with MyHermes (29 parcels so far)

I use myhermes through interparcel.com, I have to pay £2 for £100 compensation usually and only get £20 normally. I think they have changed their prices recently though? Because last time I chose no signature 3 day delivery and couldn't chose any compensation. I think my might use them directly now if it works out cheaper, thanks.

Also, try parcel2go.com
You can compare the prices to send your parcel from many companies.
You have to enter the dimensions and weight. I think it's pretty good.

Which is cheapest reliable European courier?

Well. Speak as you find. I have used them many times and so far an excellent low cost service. Voted "Hot".

Parcelmonkey.co.uk also offer a good comparison service

I do use myhermes regularly and have found the service very good, more often than not they also get a signature at the other end even if you don't choose to have one.

I had a parcel go missing with myhermes, an expensive item I sold on ebay. Their customer service was great & they refunded when they said they would. Their service has definitely improved over the past couple of years.

well done for taking your time to do this

Good informative post, thanks.

I use myhermes very regularly, the lady who collects/drops off is lovely, and never had an issue

There's no compensation cover for Electrical Goods with MyHermes (it's in the small print) although they will take your money for this service.

Useful discussion indeed.

I had a parcel delivered from Amazon today by Hermes. Sunday at 18:00 left on my doorstep. It was a £400 camera. not impressed. Who delivers on Sunday? They constantly say out for delivery but it then doesn't arrive, or they say delivered when it hasn't been.

When you book a shipment with myHermes, there are a couple of boxes where you can enter brief instructions for where a package can be left if there is no one home.

thx for your time and effort it really is useful ..and of course MONEY SAVING ....HOT

wish some people on eBay use this some just have silly P&P charges that makes the item not worth bidding for but would have been worth if cheaper, iv used Hermes & they was good & cheap!

You can always ask if you can arrange your own, or suggest they use myhermes, I did so recently with a juicer that someone wanted £20 postage for, they happily agreed and I even gave them a discount code...cost me less than £4

The best is either Parcelforce or DPD (Anybody who cares about customer service would use one of those).

Really useful thread, thanks.

Am I missing something with this post? Where is the comparison with the Collect+ Services, which is the better of the two courier companies..

Nice post - or you can look here parcel2go

Appreciate the effort!

Ive noticed that Collect + via ebay gives £50 compensation included with tracking & signature where as say via parcels2go its only £20 then you pay extra for more compensation & signature

New Born

Nice post - or you can look here parcel2go

Used for ages and works and at least 8 comparisons and 3 different delivery times..
