Great Price for an excellent book trilogy. Can be read without reading the Farseer Trilogy, but possibly better to read the books in order if you plan to read the whole 16 book series. Nonetheless, great value for the full 2475 pages of the second, and possibly the best, trilogy of the lot.

The perilous waters of the Rain River Wilds can only be negotiated by sentient liveships made of Wizardwood, but such a ship is difficult to come by. Rare and valuable, it will quicken only when three family members from successive generations have died on board.

The liveship Vivacia is about to undergo her quickening as Althea Vestrit’s dying father is carried on to her deck. Althea waits with both sadness and awe for the ship that she loves more than anything in the world to awaken, only to find that her family have other plans for them both…

RH is an excellent author and this set is a very good example of her writing. Do not hesitate, spend what is a very small amount of dosh, lock yourself away from the world and get stuck in - you know you it makes sense and so do it!
I really tried to get into these but I just couldn't enjoy it I found the first book so dull
These were by far the hardest ones to read, nearly quit myself and I really like RH earlier books. Go for the first trilogy in this world Farseer trilogy.
Robin Hobb and Patrick Rothfuss are by far my favourite authors. I agree that these were not as enjoyable as the main Farseer storyline trilogies - I didnt like the Dragon Keeper trilogy so much either - but worth reading if you want the complete picture of the world she created.

Really recommend Patrick Rothfuss’ s The Name of the Wind and The Wise man’s Fear if you like Robin Hobb - on par if not better at encouraging emotional involvement with the characters

Its ok i got there in the end lol

Recommended reading order as per Barns & Noble:
  • The Farseer Trilogy
  • The Tawny Man Trilogy
  • The Fitz and the Fool Trilogy (when complete)
  • Liveship Traders Trilogy
  • The Rain Wild Chronicles
  • Soldier Son Trilogy
Oddly addictive author. Start at the beginning though, the different sets do interlinked very nicely.
Soldier son in different world

I’d read them in the order they came out seeing as the some of the trilogies intertwine with each other.

I don’t understand why anyone would recommend them in that order.
Outstanding books
