The SoC doesn't allow 2GB of RAM, so it's either got 1GB or the specifications are wrong at Tesco Direct.

You are right!

I should of checked that first as 2GB is preferable. Unless they got the SoC wrong..

I will update with info when I had a look. It might get returned if it's only 1GB.

"2GB Ram, slightly better than Linx 7""

One heck of an understatement that !

It come free with a xbox one

Microsoft and Intel are desperate to get into the tablet market. Losing millions on subsidies but the consumer is benefiting - if a Windows tablet is what you want.

Does the office in this tab run for only 1 year or its only the subscription to office online that runs 1 year? Can we use the installed office in this tab after one year?

Office 365 is subscription based - the installed programs check online to verify your current subscription status. So simple answer to last question - no.

However, the apps don't constantly check (as you may not be online and away from internet connectivity for some time) and when they do discover you don't have a current subscription there is a grace period and then they slowly disable features before refusing to run so there is, in theory, a few extra months of use. My account manager in MS stated 3 months for the pro version but never tested that out.

whats better? … whats better? http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msuk/en_GB/pdp/HP-Stream-7-Signature-Edition-Tablet/productID.308686300?tid=sMoE0eocx_dc&cid=5366&pcrid=50345316885&pkw=%2B7%20%2Btablet&pmt=b&WT.srch=1&WT.mc_id=pointitsem_Microsoft+UK_google_HP+Stream+Tablet&WT.term=%2B7%20%2Btablet&WT.campaign=HP+Stream+Tablet&WT.content=MoE0eocx&WT.source=google&WT.medium=cpc

the stream doesn't have HDMI, has mono audio, and the front camera is only 0.3MP (HDMI, stereo and 2MP on this)
however, this seems a hefty unit - weight is 800g, as opposed to 350g on the stream and 280g for the Linx mentioned previously. As the Linx is otherwise very similar (though also has dual wifi, not only single as on this unit) so I'd still say go for that one, unless the weight, like the memory is misprinted for the Connect.

I wouldn't risk buying a Windows tablet this cheap. I'd fear that the screen is held on by pritt stick

It's not hard to get a grip around the RT vs Full Windows thing.

If it's Intel - it's full Windows.

Well no one here reports the screen falling off he £79 Linx: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linx-inch-Tablet-storage-Windows/dp/B00O636WJU

These are all probably heavily subsidised to get Win8/Intel into the tablet market.

Don't think I'd bother with this when you can get the Linx 10.1" for an extra £20 after cashback, and it has 'full fat' Windows 8.1 (this thing might I'm just not sure)
With the Linx you can add a keyboard too, looks like a cracking device for the dosh....

I was just thinking due to the price it would be RT that's all, thanks though, might take a trip down and collect it!

I really dont get when people compare 7in tablet with 10in one. Its like suggesting a car deal to a Motorbike deal. Ever wonder some people prefer to have a tiny pc which is truly pocketable?
I have all size tablets and computers at home by the way.

you can get the Linx 10.1" for an extra £20 after cashback

There was a list of permitted manufacturers for the trade-in tablet for Linx on HUKD threads and on the trade-up web site but none of the current T&Cs seem to have that any more.

Anyone confirm that they have dumped that restriction?

Could someone let me know when/if they find out how much RAM is on this? thanks in advance.

I have a surface pro 3 with a 12 inch screen, SSD and an i5

Good one

You can get a Toshiba Encore with 2GB of ram and a bigger screen for £20 more from the Argos deal on here

2 reasons we now have cheap windows tablets.
Intel produced cheap low powered SoC.
Microsoft no longer charge manufactures for Windows on small tablets. When you see Windows 8.1 + Bing, it costs them nothing.

Could be modified? Linx 10 uses the same SoC but states 2GB Ram, doubtful that both manufacturers would get it wrong. That's what i'm hoping anyway.

I agree there are some really shifty tabs that get sold but I wouldn't apply it to these or the Linx series. Reviews and videos show that this chipset runs windows really well and quickly. Heck, people are even playing games on the Linx 7 and getting good framerates. Microsoft have recently been or have fine tuned Windows for low ram devices. I haven't got a Linx yet but I hope this doesn't put people off getting one as reviews are positive for them. On the whole though I do agree and feel sorry for people who just buy the cheapest tablet they can find then end up hating it with no money for something better.
