Pockit cards look like many credit or debit cards, with a card number, chip-pin and signature strip. But unlike credit cards – which provide you with a source of credit, and debit cards – which are linked to your bank account, it helps you spend only the amount you have chosen to load onto a prepaid card, helping you to stay in complete control. You can use the Pockit Prepaid MasterCard at over 35 million locations and withdraw cash from over 1.9 million cash machines worldwide – wherever you see the MasterCard Acceptance mark.

First load (min £10) must be within 7 days of sign up. You may be turned down for a Pockit card if your details cannot be verified. You must be 18 or over and a UK resident.

Sounds like it makes a load of cash easier to lose in one go.

It explicitly says on their website that they won't.

Why would you not just use Revolut which can also be used for low cost foreign exchange and no ATM withdrawal fee up to £500 a month. Revolut is also contactless. They were doing a deal for load £10 and you get £5 free - need to check if this still available. The card is free to apply for.

As much as I loved Pockit, it cant touch Revolut in terms of fees and is a no brainer if you plan to pay for something in other currency.

Had Pockit for around two years, but will stop using it over my Revolut card. I really enjoyed their cashback for stores but it has sadly slipped into single digits for most stores.

Now there's a blast from the past. I had a horrendous experience with Revolut and would suggest people clear well clear. I couldn't make a payment upon signing up and they told me they needed my passport to verify the account OR to delete it either, so I just left it and deleted the app. I emailed them a few times including the CEO and they couldn't be bothered to get back to me. I'm sure it worked out for some, but they are not a helpful company and in my experience don't care about customer service or satisfaction.
