Continental Tyres £35.98 at costco metro centre

Possibly a national deal as was informed by the bloke that costco gateshead they are stopping selling continental tyres. Got the tyres for £35.98 each and are around £60 online.I have never seen them that price in 10 years of owning the car so well worth a check for your car. They dont have a great economy rating but feel free to go and spend double on tyres that dont stop as well in the wet and save you a fiver a year

it may only be a local deal then but would be worth a check as i was honestly expecting to spend £120

hope you stocked up and got 4 extra to bring home
good saving

Wish i had since i got back and checked the prices. Also forgot to mention the price is fitted, balanced and filled with nitrogen instead of air. Nowhere i know does the nitrogen apart from costco

Quick fit does nitro but watch out for their extra charges!! Like metallic valves which they just decide to put on sometimes.

I must try Costco for tyres do you need a Costco card for their tyre centre??

Original Poster

Yeah sorry you do need a costco card, but if they have your tyres in stock it could work out free membership on your saving. The whole nitrogen thing was new to me. Yeah i agree kwik fit rip your guts out every chance they get.

Good friend of mine works for Kwik Fit and fills my tyres with nitrogen every time I go in free lol, I know normally they charge £2 per tyre I think!

That's great, but they're a freaking rip off. £40 for tracking, my local garage did it for £15!

That's the problem when you try to put a price on everything and overrate your workers ability! High prices!

Great deal BTW!

They are well and truly rip off merchants. Lost count at the amount of times my friends said "The customer only really needed 1 tyre but flogged them 3/4" or "their pads and disks are fine but still flogged them"

Just picked up 2 continental contact sport 5's in 235 40 r18 from reading Costco for 120 inc fitting which is a massive saving (160 each fitted normally)

The price dropped a couple of days ago so stock will be in short supply but worth a trip if you are nearby

ahh now here is where I need to defend Kwik fit they have just invested in a multimillion pound deal to provide Hunter alignment machines for nearly all their branches and £40 is a very good price for that ring up your local car dealership and ask how much they charge - if they have one at all. Four wheel alignment is a much better and accurate system with printouts before and after, than £15 basic laser tracking that local garage/tyre places do.

I've found cost co tyre prices to have gotten steadily less competitive as the years have rolled by. This sounds an excellent deal though and timed just as I need all 4 changing on my motor. thanks.

So you can't buy if you are not a member?

Seems you can online:

Shop Online only

If you are neither a Costco Member nor a Subscriber, you may shop costco.co.uk by paying a 5% surcharge on all purchases

There is zero benefit to using Nitrogen in road tyres, race cars running high temperature slicks yes, road tyres it does nothing.

Sorry but Kwik Fit have to be the biggest conmen on the high street, I took my car there because I thought there was a problem with rear tyre wear and excessive noise and asked for their "free" inspection... they reckoned it was an engine problem and the noise I could hear was from that... took it to the local garage who correctly dignosed a ceased wheel bearing, £700 or £70, they never even checked the tyre / wheel, wouldnt touch them with the proverbial mucky stick.

I do agree in some parts. The only thing ive noticed is that they dont go down after a few months.Would use nitro again as tyre wear has been better too.

Anyone going up, could they check the price for 225/40/18 Continental Conti Sport 5?

Thank you

Got conti's on my car & all four have suffered from sidewall cracking one had to be replaced due to a sidewall bulge & I have only done 10,000 miles needless to say I had a Dunlop tyre fitted instead as I had them on my st & they lasted 30,000 miles.
I asked about continental tyre problems & was told they are prone to this type of damage due to the rubber compound used????.
However heat for the op as it's good saving.

sorry but the link you posted for continental takes you to Costco but no tyres listed, why post a link that does not work!!

He didn't post a direct link because there isn't one for tyre sales....simply use their web site to ring your local store main line and ask to be put through to the tyre fitting section (if they have one).

Just a point of interest also if you aim for the keenest prices by sourcing your tyres via internet suppliers (as I do) take them to Costco and they will usually provide a fitting service only, had four sizeable tyres fitted on a Porsche that I supplied to them, £35 charged. Just under £9 a corner is cheap.

Cheers going to try that for my van. Costco had none of the reduced ones for it yesterday and told me I was looking at £110 each!!

Have just rang Derby, sport contact 2 are £80 odd a corner in 205 55 r16 w rated, no cheaper really than etyres.co.uk.

I would expect them to be around the same as the 235/40/18's I got yesterday - 60 quid each fitted down from 160

Pretty sure the price quoted over the phone will be plus vat, even if it isn't it's not a great saving and is just costco normal price. Ty for the deal post though, I'll ring again tomorrow then call in weds and find out if and when there planning to drop the price. Need all 4 boots for mine, the housemate's car is a couple thousand off the wear indicators on the passive axle so at around half price I'd be paying for 6 now and would prob stick another 4 away for next year.

Birmingham say they're out of stock of Conti's..... and don't stock them any more.
Just the usual prices on the other brands.
