personally i use a 10w energy saving bulb in my cooker hood when they were on offer in supermarkets for about 10p a bulb.

Energy saving ones last around 10 years as well.
My filament ones were always blowing
I bought these the other month and have to say they don't last very long, so I have gone back to using standard screw in bulb as energy saver ones touch the hood cover.

Great idea that, I like it! Only prob is on my cooker hood it just would not fit. It needs a slim bulb, about the size of what would fit in a small fridge or so.
Neil, have you not seen the really slim powersaving bulbs? I do the same as poot. When I replaced the original, there was very little difference in size.

The supermarket ones I buy don't last long either!
We use CFLs as these seem to blow to often. Would use LED from dx.com if these blew. We have LED in chandeliers and they are the height of decadence.
Good price compared to ASDA, Wilkinsons, etc, but as others have said 9w/10w energy saving SES candle shaped bulbs are a great alternative. Last pack of old fashioned bulbs I bought for the hood lasted less than 5 minutes!

No, but will be checking them out - thanks.
