Update 02/08: Reduced further to £4.99 if you can find stock

This slow cooker was already a bargain when reduced to £6.99 but has had a further price drop to £5.99. Decent stock at time of posting and free click and collect.

Looking at the reviews would probably suit people who are cooking for 1-2 people.

Well these are cheap, easy to clean, semi-automatic (thermostatically controlled), and specifically designed to distribute heat evenly for best slow cooking results in the one pot. Heating one pot is of course more economical than heating an enormous oven with a tiny little dish in it.
Thanks chanchi, on my way!

Great for camping, we put porridge in the night before and by morning on the low setting it's perfect. Mine is a grey quest branded one but is identical to this except for the color.

Had this exact model for around 5 years now and it's been faultless. Good for cooking cheaper cuts of meat. Can start it off before you go out for the day and come back to a delicious meal.
Think it cost around £12.99 when I bought it, so a bargain now.
Thanks Chanchi for keeping us busy during weekends. Heat added.:)
I bought the 3.5l this as I thought this would be too small but kind of regretting it now. If only there was a 2.5l specifically for couples.

I find 1.5L enough for two servings. You never get 1.5L the pot needs room to breathe the pot is OK for 1L or two 500g portions. That's quite a bowl of soup, or main course with rice. Being a single cheeky monkey I will make two portions and chill one for the next day following the more stringent food handling practices recommended for slow cooked food.

The key rule here is to not let food sit between 5C and 60C for more than two hours before chilling it. Don't put it straight in the fridge or you'll just heat up all your fridge. Wait a while, put it in a dish, then put it in the fridge. This is more important for slow cooked food as it doesn't " obliterate " bacteria (or healthy bacteria, phytonutrients, antioxidants etc )

Anyway if you look on amazon, you'll find there are 2.0L and 2.4L slow cookers.

What kind of dishes can you cook in a slow cooker?

Stews
Curry
Soup
Tagine

It's easier to list things you can't make..

You can chuck pasta in at the end. You can do rice, cakey things, baked potatoes, steaming can be fudged.

I was going to post just the job for a bowl of porridge and not much else.
Thanks, managed to order one last night and pick it up today. Already have a large one but this will be ideal if only 2 of us in for dinner.
