Yep, there's no getting away from it now :x
I work in manufacturing myself & this is one thing I do feel strongly about. Manufacturing has been downhill since Thatcher. I don't think the government are doing enough to save what we've got left, the country can't continue with a large trade deficit, especially to China.
Having said all this there's no british alternative to purchase :-(

Totally agree, Labour have totally failed the UK manufacturing industry. It's one reason we're now the ony developed nation still in recession.

Bargain wherever its from. All the way from China then £3.24 at argos it would probably cost £6 to post anywhere here.

this will last 18 months if your lucky

]1,700 jobs to go as Corus mothballs plant

The underlying cause of the problems at Corus has been a fall in demand for steel products, especially in Europe. Construction and manufacturing companies are buying less. And, as so often before, the world's capacity to make steel greatly exceeds demand. Manufacturing has suffered a sharp loss of jobs during the recession. And although manufacturing represents little more than one-eighth of the UK economy these days, it still generates almost half of our exports. Much of the slab steel produced on Teesside was sold abroad. So the mothballing of the plant is another blow to any hope of narrowing Britain's persistent - and worrying - trade deficit.

You are right there mate :w00t:

Wife got one today as the one she want is on order so got this for the time being, it took 5 mins to boil :-D and when she made me my cuppa coffee all I could taste was the plastic :-D

i bought one of these lasted 5 months

Apart from the base being so light that it 'floats' across the work surface, the kettle lasted exactly 23 days before the switch packed up. Total cr*p.
