Haters gonna hate but I think this is an excellent deal for people who are after an affordable mechanical keyboard.

You can view the full product detail here: cmstorm.com/en/…ro/

Note only the Cherry Red variant is available in the UK

I'll just quickly sum up my thoughts here, but this is purely subjective, and I know everyone has a different take when it comes to keyboard, on the price or on different types of cherry switches

Pros:
Mechanical - longer durability and way more comfortable to type than membrane keyboards
Cherry Red - less of a 'clicky' feeling so less loud to annoy your partner/mates, doesn't require too much pressure to press, excellent for gaming
Backlit: Keys that are most commonly used by gaming are lighted in red with controls on different brightness levels
Price: excellent price for a full size backlit mechanical keyboard from a reputable manufacturer..it's priced over £70 everywhere else

Cons:
Cherry Red - Blue or Brown are probably better suited for people who are into the best typing experience
Backlit: Only partial
Price: more expensive than your average HUKD keyboards...

Thanks for posting. I’ve added the price and merchant to the title.
Here’s a ‘Help’ link which gives tips and advice on thread posting.

I don't understand - It is available in 4 versions with either Black, Brown, Blue or Red Cherry MX switches, so no matter what game type you are into and what spring strength and tactile feedback you prefer, we got you covered.

Are they saying you order it, then say what colour switch you want?

The product code says it's Red switches, but I'm now not sure. Was looking for brown preferably

only red is available in the UK..

No, they are saying that the keyboard generally is available in four variants, but Box only has the cherry red switches variant in stock.

£60 for a keyboard? would need to make me a cup of tea for that.

What an insightful comment, you've definitely, definitely grasped the point of this site.

Anyway, I personally have one of the CM storm quick fire series and it's excellent. Heat from me.

I have reds on my qpad mk 90 - very nice keyboard

I was just having a joke, no need to get so defensive over a keyboard!

I'm sure its a great keyboard, I just couldn't justify the £60 personally.

I didn't vote either way.

Yeah..that's understandable.. just you won't find a full size mechanical keyboard anywhere else below £60 and that makes it a deal

Pretty good deal for a mechanical keyboard

Good price but I believe it is only partially backlit, if that's important to you.

but its more of a real gaming!! keyboard CM as no macro's not really gaming keyboard

Would trade my G series macro's and lcd any day of the week for a god backlit mech kb. Heated although I don't prefer more of a positive click than the red's.

The roccat more of an MMORPG keyboard yes but you don't really need macros for non-MMORPG's.

You don't need macros with a mechanical one L2P noob....

Is it a case of going to a PC World branch to be able to try out the different Cherry mechanisms? I am interested in trying out the red, brown and black mechanisms. Those seem to be the ones most often mentioned. Just unsure of where will have them all on display though for trying out and comparing.

rip off for a keyboard. cold

I'm pretty sure UK CM keyboards are all red switches - which, frankly, is probably no better than buying a membrane keyboard (could be worse - could be blacks - neither belong in a proper keyboard).

Browns are the way forward - Blues are for the really hardcore - red and black and for people who want 'mechanical' with no idea why they want it.

You have no idea about what you're talking about. Seriously, I've never seen anyone spout so much bs with such confidence.

"Blues are for the really hardcore?" Pffft, they're for typing.
Just leave....save yourself from any further embarrassment. X)

Very cheap for a mechanical keyboard.

I pay more than that just for a few custom made keys.

Red switches are very nice, you'd prefer them over Black which have stronger springs in them. Browns are very close to the weight of Red's and Blue switches. The only difference is the Reds are linier so smooth travel. The Browns have a tactile bump on the way down. The Blues have a tactile bump and make a clicking sound.

As I have no idea what the hell you guys are on about between the different coloured switches im not voting either way but like most things, if you want it and it's cheaper than anywhere else, regardless of what anyone on here thinks, thats a deal

Can someone explain the difference?

Nah, I've got the Quickfire Rapid with Brown switches. Paid about the same as this one and it doesn't have a numpad or backlighting so this is a decent deal.

As someone who very recently made the switch from membrane to mechanical keyboards I would HIGHLY recommend getting one. Makes a huge difference both for standard typing and gaming. Can't comment on the quality of this one but that is a very good price for a mechanical keyboard. This over a Razer mechanical keyboard any day of the week.

nope..that's not true.. Cherry Red switches are eaiser to press but comparing it to a membrane keyboard the difference is no less than between a mechanical HDD and SSD..it's day and night..

Yes, I totally agree Brown and Blue offer a better typing experience..but Red is a perfectly viable option...

No..I would prefer mechnicals over Macro keys every day...Yes. the difference between membrane and mechanical is that big you'll understand once you use one....I always think upgrading to mechanic keyboard is the 2nd biggest upgrade after an SSD upgrade any gamer could have..

You obviously do not know a thing about mechanical keyboard. So please stop commenting here as it make you look foolish.

Red is good all rounder I'd say. My red is doing good in both gaming (strategy) and coding.
Edited by: "naodai_mmx" 11th Sep 2013

I've been using the smaller version of this keyboard with red switches and love it. Takes a bit of getting used to as the keys are very easy to press but I'd find it hard to go back to membrane keys. I paid £80 for that so this is a brilliant price.

If you can I'd try out the different switches so you can see the difference between noise and resistance.

Cherry G80 is about £55 most of the time, if you don't want all the gaming stuff.

In fact... I used to have one of these, an old old old olivetti keyboard iirc.

I have this keyboard!

+ Its built like a tank
+ great for typing/gaming because the key presses are so smooth
+ good size. some modern keyboards and so wide do to extra buttons for media and more
+ nice colour lights, effect and feel.

- only partially lit

Great keyboard though!

Just dont be so lazy and type /dance in your MMOs instead of macroing
