I'll buy this but the pizza & garlic bread will accompany a salad, the onion rings with low fat quorn burgers & salads, the wedges with whatever & the ice cream as a pud or treat, its not in the contract to eat it all in one go is it?!
The problem is that "people with not a lot of money" are being enticed with cheap junk food. It would be really easy for the Co-op (and other supermarkets) to offer deals like this but with much healthier options, but they don't - they are contributing to the obesity crisis. My wife works with people on lower incomes/benefits, who need help with their weight - and one of their main complaints is the price of "healthy" foods.
I'd love to see a healthy options £5 meal deal once in a while - it's not impossible.
only if you greedy and eat it all.. that's why we learn to share...
They also appear to make you a self righteous pain in the ........

it used to be that poorer people were skinny. Now the poorest in society contribute heavily to the obesity epidemic. How so? Cheap processed junk food.. 'bogof' wanna go large? All you can eat.... oO
Haha, apologies to OP....thread derailed

Yes, but I always go through self-checkout when I do that as I feel sheepish when taking 'random' items up to the till lol

Perfect in theory. But you clearly have no concept of how supermarket deals are funded. They don't just take losses on products. 'Deals' are subsidised by the manufacturers to raise sales. Supermarkets don't lose out. So maybe you need to aim your snipe at the manufacturers of the healthier products as they are the ones not offering them for promotion making them easier to afford for all?
well said!
usually they always have some sort of meat products in their deals
so hot from me
You mean the only veg
Can't remember which deal it was but I bought it all then put the chicken dippers back in their freezer- I got a cracking deal & they got free bag of dippers, so it was a win all round!
True, but its cos most healthy foods have a lower mark up &/or profits to play with I believe.
Why the hostile tone? Sorry I criticised those poor innocent supermarket giants! I don't mind who funds the promotions - the supermarket or the manufacturers. Besides, if it's down to the manufacturers, then the supermarket should be pressuring them more. Think of the PR wins they'd get if they were able to do this.
How'd you know, please? The T&Cs say the offer only applies to the Cadbury Big Taste Toffee Whole Nut 480ml.
Saying that, some of these deals people post an alternative meal deal you can get for a fiver, where do you find this info?
There was no hostility. How you interpret 'tone' in written text I really don't know? At the end of the day supermarkets are purely businesses that aim to make money and they all make plenty of that so from their perspective why change anything? As consumers we are free to make choices and supermarkets provide plenty of choice. Every one I go into has plenty of offers too on fresh fruit and vegetables.
i was told the only alternative to the ice cream is the one I listed in the description.
Before the health police come along, these will be used with lots of other things (i.e. The garlic bread with pasta etc) and not all eaten together
Oh come on....of course you can interpret tone in written text - people do it all the time. Your second sentence began with "you clearly have no concept..." then you said "maybe you need to aim your snipe", etc... and I interpreted that as being slightly hostile. Put it this way, you wouldn't speak like that to someone's face and expect a positive reaction, would you? There was just no need for that sort of tone.
A deal is a deal, wether someone thinks it's s*** or not. Keep a civil tongue and if you don't like it a civil negative comment is sufficient.
Haha, you called it.
