Found 12th Jul 2012
Just bought the twin set for £12 which is a bargain. For those who want a single phone, delivered to store for a fiver, you can't go wrong.

Some related items include answering machines: single (£9.50) and double (£12.50)

Nice find.

M&S 2 year guarantee also... at a fiver, you can't go wrong.

Anyway if you need two it's just easier and cheaper to buy 2 of this (or 3-4). Just use the base without pluggin in landline and register handsets with the main base. I have triple handsets but I use only 2 stations for charging anyway.

Anyone know what phone this actually is - before being rebranded as an M&S?

excellent find. thank you

A simple click on the link shows a picture of the phone and it clearly says Binatone, so I guess it's a Binatone.

Binatone Solas 1500

Got one of those a few weeks back. Fine for a basic phone at this price.
Be aware though that the ringtones are not the loudest.

What is it with phone deals from M&S today? Is everyone jumping on the M&S phone bandwagon.

Big sale started yesterday so there will be loads of M&S stuff on here...

I got one of these at £4.99 it is a Binatone and the "tone" was unbearable. Quickly returned.
If you dont mind paying a bit more WHSmiths have some good BT phones in the clearance section - singles and double handsets.

When you answer the phone the tone stops. Do you realise this?

Heat added, it's cheap and I'm now cheerful

I think you can only do this if the phones are DECT compliant - not sure if this phone on this deal is?

Does anybody know if this is a Binatone model as I only buy Binatone?!

Bit of a strange question, but.. can I use these handsets to talk to each other over a short distance, like we used to be able to with non-wireless phones within the same house?

Save yourself a tenner and use two used cans connected by a bit of string.

Or just shout!

Cheaper than a phone extension lead in B&Q!

Cold. Not a Binatone.

Thanks, ordered

Definately hot, just ordered the twin one with the answering machine for £12!

I got this a couple of months back; it's been this cheap for ages, plus Quidco

No issues with ringtone loudness; it's perfectly fine for us. Ringtones are dire though.

Note it has no loudspeaker function (didn't realise this til I got it set up) so sitting on hold will make your arm ache.

Otherwise, a good, solid, basic cordless phone. Also it uses "normal" rechargeable batteries not those 3/4 AA things that are hard to get hold of or overpriced.

Bargain. Have some heat.

I presume these are 2.4Ghz

900mhz / 5ghz / 2.4ghz in order of least preferable.

The 2.4Ghz ones are junk if you want to run reliably 300Mbs (on the g band) wifi the way the channel hopping works breaks 40Mhz channels working well 100% of the time.

If all your wifi is on a then it is not a problem. (Fairly likely most people have the odd thing that only supports g wifi).

The best to use is the 900mhz band though (Same one as used by wireless microphones).

It is a false economy getting the cheapest possible cordless phones because in order to keep your wifi working as well as it would you will probably need another router. (Even more so if you have a cordless set of 2)

The guide in this page -> binatonetelecom.com/pro…tml, shows the speaker button below the '*' button. Isn't it there in your handset?

Need a new phone as the BT ones we have here are shocking. As soon as someone talks or there's a noise in the background it results in the speaker being muted when the person on the other end is speaking, it's like the mic is oversensitive and picks up the background noise thinking you are speaking but it's the kid screaming etc...

So frustrating!

I don't think I have ever, ever heard of cordless phones interfering with wifi.

The majority of cordless phones use the 900Mhz band as opposed to the 2.4Ghz band - i'm not even sure they have a part of the 2.4Ghz spectrum given to them in the UK.

Also - the band is extremely wide, with the signal generated from these phones very small. Chances of cross-interference is small.

As a further, I assume these are now digital cordless phones (most are nowadays, right?!). Using digital modulation the strongest signal wins, so it'll either knock wifi out completely or not, not somewhere inbetween.

Hope this helps someone.

Cold, why take the risk of going with a no-name manufacturer like this "MAS" online store, when for just a few pounds more you can get a quality branded product such as Onkyo or Binatone.

After having 3 binatones in the past and realise they are c**p, i'm never going away from panasonic. Cheap at a fiver though,

So what if I use wireless mics a lot? Surely a more expensive 900mhz cordless phone would be a nightmare? I.e., if YOU listed a 900mhz phone on this site, I could make out that it's a rubbish deal because it will interfere with my mics. For any type of cordless phone there exists other equipment which could be interfered with. That's life.
