is this a good buy? i dont think it has a dvd or cd writer?

It comes with DVD ROM/CDRW..Nice deal...

ordered one just as i know these deals dont last long and the sizes suggest its smaller than the 14" screened acer i looked at today so pretty mobile! if its not ill send it sttraight back!

Thanks for the deal

is diamond view the glossy look?

Yes. I've got one of these and it's pretty good.

Good deal shame I don't have the cash right now :x Damn summer holidays! lol

How about this one. Not as fast a CPU but the other specs are better...

so is this a good deal or will i be dissapointed when it comes, cant find any specs anywhere on this laptop? shame i missed out on the sony one GRRRRR

Mine came today, aaprt from it having a 50gb not 60gb drive as stated its 100% perfect, this unit with 100gb hdd and 1gb ram in pc world is £699.99 so this is an absolute bargain, even if you build a dell it asks you to choose a processor and to add this one is £150+ (the most expensive one they do)

WELL SPOTTED

Why having 512mb ram is beyond me, considering ram is cheap at the moment.

I bought one last time around and they are pretty good as long as they dont ship you a dog... If any bit is wrong let them know... I shipped the first one back and when they still got the graphics card different to the description, they credited me £40.

For thoughs who get a smaller hard disk, call them up and ask for ££ back... If you push for £40-50, you might just get £30 off them...

Good luck.

Nick.

ohh, careful on the ram front. They are prob using up old 256mb sticks so I bet you'll have know free slots so factor in removing 256mb when looking to buy new mem for this...

The Sony isn't a Core2Duo, just a dual core. Don't know if it makes a big difference.

I would double check on the hd size in device manager or the bios if i was you.

PB usually setup a recovery partition on your hard drive, if the machine ever crashes you can reload to new using a backup - hidden on your hard disc.
This is usually around 10gig, hence they might have given you a 60gb hard disc but you only have 50gig available to the system.

If you need to recover your system, then press F11 at power on and the machine will launch into a recovery menu. This usually blanks the active system partition and then recopies the files from the hidden sectors - you will lose all your personal files on the C: partition.

Done this loads of times on damaged pc's - very handy.

Have fun

My mate got a PB refurb 6 months back. Had problems with the DVD drive and the engineer that came was unable to fix it so it had to go back. I got one 2 months ago and the hard drive sounded like dried peas being shaken in a tin can. It wasnt faulty, just too noisy so I sent it back.

I dont trust that PC World actually do anything to sort out issues when such PCs are returned. I think they simply reinstall everything and resell them so I personally wouldnt recommend them based on my experience although others have been luckier.

yep id agree, they have told me 7-10 days for a recovery cd to come, then if that dont work ill send it back, oh well.
