As recommended by Jody from Just One More Watch on youtube, this is a link to the Aliexpress 11.11 deal to the Corgeut 'Speedmaster' homage watch at the knock-down price of £44.91.

I love Omega speedmasters, and Corgeut are on the respectable side of homage watches, not trying to copy/fake these watches, but clearly marking their own logo on the watch. So, if you like the aesthetics of the Speedmaster, but don't want to drop £3-4K on one, and fancy just trying it out for size then this might be worth trying out.

This uses a Seiko Mechaquartz movement, which is a hybrid quartz/mechanical movement. It means that the second-hand on the chrono move smoothly, unlike a regular quartz. From forum descriptions, this movement is quite reliable, needing a new battery every two to three years.

Materials are stainless steel strap, but sadly only mineral crystal and not sapphire.

Probably not a deal for everyone, as homage watches can be quite polarising. It's probably not something that I would buy, but I can certainly see the attraction in wearing something like this that is inexpensive, reasonably practical and IMHO quite attractive. I've never owned a mechaquartz myself, and I'd like to give one a spin sometime, so who knows, this might be the deal to make me give it a try.

They do indeed. It's not one of those with molded buttons and stuck on dials. This is Corgeut we're talking about

Cool as a, er, cucumber
Any good seamaster homage from UK seller ???
Didn't realise this one was a Mecaquartz (the seller listing isn't great), but it's confirmed in the reviews.

I think this one is a bit nicer (assuming it's the same specs - also from the Corgeut Official Store) £43.91 - 11.11 price aliexpress.com/ite…tml

There's a blue one as well (different seller) aliexpress.com/ite…tml
38956738.jpgThere's a few Seagull 1963 variants on sale too - though only one listing appears to be the "official" version and a bit pricier! There's a seller selling both the Acrylic and Sapphire options for the same price - though there are cosmetic niggles with the cheaper options.

Commented on it here and here

Also, for the watch nuts, there's a Live feed page happening. Some are in foreign languages, which makes it less fun, but as an example, here's an upcoming Starking Official Store one. Might be a repeat of this, though.

I'd be tempted by the Nomos Lambda-alike (High-beat) Starking but it doesn't have a Power Reserve function like the others - £29.08 at the moment.

Mentioned this on a Discussion thread, there was a topic about this quite recently on Watchuseek re Ali and knockoffs/homages/call them what you will.

Personally I think as long as it's not pretending to be an out-and-out fake and is inspired by, or a sterile dial without any branding/not like for like, then it's okay. People have different opinions about this, obviously.

An homage is not trying to deceive anyone into thinking it's the original article. An homage is accepting that the original is desirable and then doing a treatment on that original, usually by having a sterile dial or by by clearly marking the maker's name (ideally not in a misleading style, e.g. copying font, layout wording etc) where the original would be.

Admittedly, the distinction can be a thin line, and acceptance of a brand as an homage specialist or a chop-shop can be a bit subjective. However, Corgeut have been making homage watches for years and are generally accepted to be on the legit side of this activity, according to most watch forums you visit.
