This thing gets very good reviews. Excellent choice for more modest systems. [EDIT] Actually is this the V2 one? If not it isn't quite as excellent as it isn't 80plus certified but still a good PSU.

great price

I wonder has anyone got this psu and can comment on how quite it is? I am thinking of building a NAS and need a quite psu maybe not as powerful as this one. If anyone has any suggestions for a psu for a Nas i would appreciate it.

Very good price for a branded PSU.

I doubt you'll find a decent PSU at any better price, I have this one (in its 600w guise)

Its super quiet and extremely effective

If its like my corsair the sound gets pretty loud when up at the peak wattage

Yes...quite.
The description on Scan says it is ultra-quite..I mean quiet.:)

An ultra-quiet 120mm double ball-bearing fan delivers excellent airflow at an exceptionally low noise level by varying fan speed in response to temperature.

wow good price...

Any can anyone tell me if this is suitable with an i7 processor or do i need a more powerful one? thanks

Am i missing something? £35.32 inc VAT

Excellent budget psu. However, I can tell you from first hand experience that it is not remotely silent, or even particularly quiet. The 12cm fan is quite a chuggy thing.

bargin if ur on a tight budget

Would need to see your other component specs (graphics cards etc).

Excellent PSU but was let down by a dodgy fan, my one had a very odd resonant sound which I had to swap for.

Not bought any other components yet apart from the i7. Any recommendations for motherboard etc? Thanks

I bought one of these around 6 months ago and the efficiency worried me somewhat, it offered barely any difference in power draw over a "god knows who made this one" PSU I had in the machine previously. I was only using a simple plug power meter so not a scientific method of measuring the efficiency, but a good indication nevertheless. As mentioned it isn't silent either but build quality seems good and has a nice matte bumpy finish.

Depends what your budget is, which i7 chip is it btw? your always best getting your components first then working out what psu is best for you. You don't want to buy one thats not powerful enough then again you don't want one that will be overkill.

what's the best gpu that can go with this

Really depends on the rest of the system, this is a handy tool for calculation your power draw.

u bought a locked sandy bridge, then want to power it with a £30 psu. what does your £150 budget have to cover what are you looking at doing with your system. i STRONGLY recommend do far more research before buying anything else.

This should help you.

Hey folks I got the 600w version of this (v2) and can say its silent and a very good quality psu for the money, if scan use them in their builds not much wrong with them

I should point out that people looking for "Corsair quality" should buy slightly more expensive models. The builder series is Corsair's attempt to appeal to the budget market, and the PSUs are not made by the same company as the more expensive PSUs that Corsair sells (Such as the TX series).

^ It's still a solid PSU that will allow for more than 430W if you overload it (FYI, not recommended for an ongoing system). For the same price you could get an 800W PSU that would fry at 400W.

No, it's not the whole mainland, and I've been a member of AVforums for years with hundreds of posts.
