It has been cheaper in the past, but this is currently the best price I have found. £12.61 cheaper than it was yesterday.

Can't find anything better that comes with a 5 year warranty and is semi modular. Should do me fine with a 970.

List is outdated, there a newer version of the cxm line up the one with the white/grey labels. They have now improved a lot and should be fine for building a gaming pc.
Here an indepth review of the 750W version.

Think you have the wrong priorities here: modular or semi-modular is only something you should be looking for after having budgeted a decent supply.

This CX series Corsair is not a good supply though (although Corsair's VS and CS are even worse). Rather it's a CWT-made supply with slightly better parts than the usual CWT ones.

If £60ish is your hard limit and you really need 600W, then probably the Seasonic-made XFX P1-600B at @ £56 is your best bet although that's not modular and is only Bronze+ like this Corsair:

If 550W is enough, this EVGA one is a Gold rated supply made by Seasonic:
amazon.co.uk/dp/…-21
but it's £75 and currently out of stock.

And of course a normal machine is highly unlikely to need a 650W supply...

Warranty is pretty crap when it costs half the price of the psu to return it. I know as I took the hit on a cx650 myself as it's just throwing good money after bad.

The new units, as mention by Suztera above, are pretty much identical to the German model. Not all Japanese capacitors on this and a single 12V rail.

I may be wrong, but I think these are the newer versions of the CX series, which I think are only released this year.
These aren't the same as the 2012 ones which were heavily criticised for their low quality capacitors and what not (I'm no PSU expert).

From what I've seen these come in X50w flavours whereas the 2012 ones were X00w.
Looking at the Tom's Hardware review for this, these actually seem to be pretty decent PSU's so heat from me. Lazy link
