Any advice from the folks out there that are more knowledgeable? I am currently running 2x stock fans which have 3 pin header with NZXT S340 and also 1x Deepcool fan which has a 4 pin header all plugged into motherboard. Can I plug these directly into the motherboard? I got 6 fan plugs just might have to get a little creative with how I route the cables or do I need to buy the lightning controller?
Wow iEimis, what a really good question, respect. And here am I thinking this fan might keep me cool whilst checking on the new HUKD posts; and it'll give me a Christmassy ambiance too. Seems cool, so heat!

I think lightning controller is needed to control all the RGB features which kind of makes sense, but it really is quite expensive to buy unless bought as a dual pack.
I’d imagine without the RGB HUB it’d be stuck on the default colour, or set to off?

Amazon listing states:
“Package contents
HD140 RGB LED High Performance 140mm PWM Fan
x4 Fan mounting screws
This product is intended as an expansion of CORSAIR’s HD140 RGB LED twin pack that includes the RGB LED hub and controller”

Either way £10 for a 140mm Corsair fan is a decent price!

So can this be used as a fan without ^ that stuff? Going to build a new PC but simply don't know these basics that nobody explains because it's expected knowledge.

You won't need a controller to run them - however you won't be able to control the RGB without a controller.

It’ll work as a fan 100% but without the RGB controller you’ll be stuck to the default colour or the RGB may be set to off.

If you’re building a new machine and want 140mm fans, personally i’d recommend this offer on Amazon instead: hotukdeals.com/dea…757

The RGB’s are a fixed colour, sadly only blue is on offer though.

Reds would be perfect for me as my build theme is kind of black and red which is a shame. Same price on eBuyer i think but delivery is extra.

Thanks. Not interested in rgb tho, just good preferably quiet case cooling.

My case says it can only house 120mm fans on the roof on the case so I'm assuming the 140mms are out of the question?
