Was in the market for a new PSU after my old one gave up the ghost. Can't complain too much as it gave me 10 happy years before dying.
Anyway, found this and thought the price to be very decent, and with Amazon customer service.

Vega needs 1500w m8, ayy.

I'm just an average Joe with a vega and a few ssd's
My system probably maxes at about 500 watts overclocked, but prefer not to stress my PSU. 50% platinum load should equate to banging efficiency, which will make my misses very happy when she looks at the smart meter.
Don't count on it. +2% efficiency is hardly going to be noticable. You may save £5/yr over Gold.
£50 if it goes 10 years like my last one.
Happy with that, at this price to be fair.
Yeah I suppose so.
Although £5/yr is based on 500w @ 12hrs/day usage.
So adjust accordingly.
Saying that I'd be tempted if I had a new build on the horizon. Perhaps Ryzen 2 will force an upgrade
Higher running cost, higher price, please read up about PSU's and what size you actually need.
12 hours is light for me lol. £5 should be achievable.
I wasn't necessarily looking for 1000w, or platinum to be honest with you. I looked about this last week or so, and this price grabbed me straight away. PSU's seem to be expensive at the moment, this isn't an awful lot more than the 750w.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Pretty much this, nobody running just a single GPU setup ever needs more than about 600-700W, in before someone says "but my graphics card says it needs 700W by itself" when those figures are based to cover all PSU's, even the rubbish 10 quid ones that explode under load
That's false. Doesn't matter if it's 500W or 1000W, it will only draw from the wall what it needs, +any extra because of its efficiency. A 1000W PSU doesn't draw 1000W from the wall all the time...
If you don't need 1000W (which 99.9% of you wont) there is no point paying £140 odd for a PSU when you can get something that will do the job just as well at half that cost.
Could you recommend a decent, smaller, platinum PSU for half the price of this?
Sure. I can do that for you.
Super Flower Platinum 550W and even better, Its only £59.99 right now.
