It's tempting to economise on PSUs.

    Don't.

I have a decade-old Corsair PSU still going strong, after unbranded ones that lasted about 2 years each.

To be fair, I had a 6yr cheapie no name brand which was fine, until the fan started making a noise. Then one day I could smell burning. Shutdown pc and ordered a new Corsair.
I was very lucky that the PSU didn't take the motherboard and other components with it.
    Don't risk it.

Anybody any info on currys adx power supplies. Seem reasonably priced. But can't find much information about them.
    Avatar
idk about the power supplies but adx is curries own brand and I have used 4 of their other products (chair, keyboard, mouse and headset) and honestly I would avoid them like the plague, I bought them when I was tight on money and they seemed a good deal but 3 of them barely lasted 3 months, not worth

Whilst I personally avoid the crooks that are Currys, this is a good price for an excellent product.
Just make sure that 650w is sufficient for your needs though. If you are building a current gaming rig you might be better off buying the 850w or higher units.

These days 650w isn't enough because 3000 series recommends at least 750w
And newer GPUs and CPU may require even a 1000w PSU

    A little off, a 3060 is 550, a 3060ti is 600-650 dependant on model, 3070/ti is 650-700, 3080 is 750 and a 3090 I'd personally recommend 850+

    Great price for this PSU!

If anyone is after more power you can actually grab the brilliant RM750x in white from the AWD-IT eBay store right now for £79. Great if you wanna do a white themed build!! I would have got it myself if I didin't just order the new RM850 2021 edition off Amazon. (edited)
