I was looking for a memory upgrade for a mac mini and stumbled across these in Maplin. It's an in store deal so may be a bit of a chase, but well worth checking out stock using their postcode checker if you're after some well priced memory for an older system.

A brief check reveals stock in

Maplin also have a decent offer on some DDR3 desktop Memory - but very few stores with stock -

Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1866Mhz CL10 Desktop Memory – Blk/Silv £30.00

Perfectly suited to older boards running on the z97 and prior chipsets for a decent boost in performance.

A quick stock check reveals stock in

Salisbury (1)
Putney (1)
Monument (1)
Wrexham (1)

There don't appear to be too many stores with this in stock however.

OP I love you

Exactly what I needed & was just about to buy for twice the price

Thanks!

worth noting you can use an adapter like this to use the sodimms in a full sized slot, buying 2 would bring total cost with this ram closer to the full sized sticks, but the sodimms are available in more stores and you could always use this ram between both desktop and laptop going forward.

Edit: Its been pointed out to me that compatibility with these adapters can be dependant on your motherboard and that support for ddr3l isn't guaranteed, i would recommend asking the seller for likely compatibility before purchasing.

Looking on the crucial memory checker here suggests yes, but also says you have two slots. What memory is currently installed as you'll most likey have to remove that and replace with this.

Looks like you have two slots total, one already populated with an 8gb stick. Shame that they elect to ship a laptop with a single stick as there is a performance gain when two sticks are used.

You'd have to remove that 8gb stick to use these two 4gb sticks, so while you'd gain nothing in terms of ram capacity you'd have a little bump of speed due to dual channel.

Cheers OP. Just order it for my wife's laptop. Cheap little upgrade.

Do these guys deliver? I tried to order but only option was to select a store and closest to me don't have them. There was no option to continue and have them delivered!

You could get a single 4Gb module of the same/similar DDR3 spec & increase your total RAM to 12Gb - will be better than having 2x4Gb modules. An example here (£14.80 incl): ebay.co.uk/itm…488

Yes, but usually low stock / sale items are not deliverable.

Thanks OP, reserved at my local Maplin. Will come in handy I’m sure.

Oh, my bad..I tough was only one for 22£:)) right. So..I think I will have a look for the same model but 8gb..16 ram should be better than 8:)

Single 8Gb modules are not cheap - any make or model :-(. You may get lucky on eBay though. Make sure it's the correct type & voltage.

isn't ddrl a different signalling voltage?

im no expert but the description says it'll work with ram voltage of 1.5v or less, personally i haven't used one with ddr3l so i can't be sure it works, would be worth contacting the seller before hand to double check

Check out CeX. I found a Kingston 8GB module for £20 a fortnight ago. Bonus that it comes with a 2 year CeX warranty!

See djtrades post above about keeping an eye on Cex for a £20 one possibly.

I will have a look instore..

Thanks OP, just ordered. This is exactly what I needed.

Just a heads up to those who couldn't find stock in their local store - you can go into your store and you'll see the out of stock tag for this RAM - take it to the front desk and ask them to check stock at their other stores. They will transfer it (unless it's only in stock at an Irish store) free of charge to your store for pickup within a week.

I just got mine this evening, transferred from Woking.
