I'm Planning on building an i5 3570k +Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 system. Should I go for some of this RAM? Have read that it's better to go for low profile...

Saw Megan Fox in town at the weekend. Gave her some more ram

I have this and whilst it's cracking RAM, it was a PITA trying to fit it onto my Asus Motherboard. I have the Gelid GX7 CPU Heatsink (here: overclockers.co.uk/sho…php?prodid=HS-003-GD&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395) and the only way I could get it all fitted was to actually fit the memory first and then the CPU Heatsink. Trying the other way din't work as the heatsink on this RAM are pretty high and i couldn't get it under straight.

Even then I still had to flip the fan onto the other side of the heatsink so the RAM didn't hit it.

If your CPU is close to the memory slots then be careful or buy this memory but with the smaller heatsinks.

i got that board and this ram, works fine togher got a artic 11 pro cpu cooler as well and it all fits snug, [yet to fit gfx card as im waiting for cheap prices i missed out on the engtx560 ti from pcworld gutted!] you should be allright whats the case your going to use?

Nice one, thanks. Getting a Zalman Z9 most probably..

I purchased this on Friday and it has arrived today! excellent service if you ask me.

This is to go into a Shuttle SZ77R5 with an i5 2500k, Samsung 128gb SSD and GTX 580 classified.

It does make sense to go for the low profile if you have a large CPU heat sink that will get in the way, otherwise the ram is 5.3cm in height and the heat sink on top is 0.7cm wide.

will happly all fit inside, do you not wanna future proof your self and get a case with usb 3.0 slots? i got 4 usb 3.0 slots [2 on mobo 2 on case] and 6 usb 2.0 slots [2 on case 4 on mobo] inless im looking at wrong case it doesnt have any usb 3.0 slots on front?

I'm not too fussed to be honest, i'll still have USB 3.0, just not on the front.

If there's a case in the price/quality range as the Z9 plus with front USB 3's, then by all means forward me...

Stick with the low profile ram, its a little moree expensive but more like to fit under most modern cpu fans as most boards seem to place them fairly close, if they fit though its cracking ram on paper

Go for the Z11 plus, amazing case although does cost a little bit more.
I use this ram with it.

Bought from this outlet a few weeks ago, RAM arrived in a massive box and both sticks were faulty.

Exchanged after, working alright so far. Just remember to use Memtest86.

why do people think they need heatsinks on RAM?

new Samsung 30nm DDR3 RAM doesn't have any heatsink at all and can easily hit over 2000MHz.

let alone the fact that RAM overclocking has about 0% real impact on anything.

I can't understand, why is this not available in Northern Ireland?

Nice timing! I was about to drop 40 quid on 8 gigs of slower 1333Mhz RAM.

I bought some of this off Amazon direct a few months ago. I have no issue with it and it was reviewed quite well.

they buy them for style I guess... marketing works.

SSD and USB memory go down, DRAM goes up.

Trust me when I say if you plan on running any kind of large CPU cooler then just get the low profile and save yourself the hassle. Otherwise grab these, great memory.

Recently built my first custom PC with your chosen products above. I went for the LP corsair ram as i didn't want to risk getting something too high profile just in case I buy a bigger and better air cooled CPU cooler in the future. I got my ram from Scan for £39.

Just bought this in advance for the PC I'll soon build. It's worth it for this price. Cheers.

If you gonna overclock on air your looking @ summit like the D14 so you would be better off with some low profile ram

I don't understand this, DRAM came down alot from 2 years ago. Its gone up slightly again. It's not style it was more I had some bog standard ram until my mate lent me his with heatsinks and I found its much easier to fit. For a few quid more its not really an issue. And I guess the heatsinks are useful in some ways :P

Just to echo what has already been said, most non-standard cooler's today are big enough to cover atleast one memory slot, with enough clearance for low profile memory only. So unless you are only ever going to use the stock cooling in your current rig or in the future (think ahead), this isnt going to be the right memory for you.

I got the exact same board, with this RAM

All fits find underneath a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO.

These sticks will stop you from installing something like a Noctua NH-D14 though.

This deal makes me tempted to go 8GB --> 16GB, but it's so unnecessary.

Damn HUKD!

Hi, I am currently looking for a case to and found the Zalman Z9 U3, which has USB 3? Have seen another cases?

Great deal I doubt it's gonna work in my old motherboard but ive ordered it anyway. If it does work i imagine ill only get 800mhz out of them but still i could do with the upgrade to 8gb. Plus its 1 less thing to buy when i upgrade my system.

** Yea just realized im gonna need another m/b cpu.
