Their exclusion list is hilarious, if it’s supposed to be for barristers and doctors how come my local cornershop owner got membership?

£20 online voucher ?? can not see any mention of this ?

You can qualify if you run or own your own business or work in a qualifying profession, like NHS, education, insurance, financial, even barristers too. Self employed people qualify too!

What is the reason that Costco is so fussy on who they want for customers?

£20 online voucher is given to you at membership counter when you sign up. Ask for it. No minimum spend on it too!

Costco is a wholesaler and not a retailer like Asda or Tesco

Unfortunately under the regulations they are not open to everyone.

They get a trade membership.

Where did you get the details from? I can't see this bit mentioned..

And if you don't like it or you think it wasn't worth it at any stage before your yearly membership is up for renewal, Costco will refund your membership fee in full with no questions asked.

I'm fairly sure that doesn't apply to prepaid vouchers

Took up this offer last time when I discovered that not only NHS employees but NHS retired staff could also join. Just need to take utility bill and NHS pension statement in when you register. All the details are on Coctco website but it does take a bit of searching through to find it all. For instance you seem to be able to invite friends to join as guests - havn't tried that yet. Took the chocolate fudge cake to a family party as it was so large and everyone loved it.

We joined via the Groupon offer a few weeks back - the batteries and fudge cake are worth £9.99 each (the cake is absolutely huge).

Very good deal

I'm already a member with Costco, do you think I can renew with this offer? my subscription will end next month

Fine print says

Valid for new Costco members only.

But I think people managed to use the Groupon deal who had been members before

Is this fir only the listed stores as noticed the Milton Keynes one isn’t on the list?

Anyone found any working livingsocial codes to bring this down further?

If you want to cancel your membership and get a full refund for your membership fee, you can do so at anytime, no questions asked. Ask anybody at the membership desk in the warehouse.

If you go in and cancel your membership within a year they will give you full membership fee back and then you can re join with this! No problem

Yet if you renew in store they give you a cheap bottle of wine. “Brand new customers only” jerks haha. Good deal

Joined Costco using the last Groupon deal which effectively cost them for me to join as I had another £10 off bonus somebody posted.
Other than their premium diesel and unleaded petrol being significantly cheaper than elsewhere there’s little else to tempt me. Yes it’s all very nice in store but shop around and supermarkets knock out the same stuff at cheaper prices I’m afraid.

This is a great deal, but is stuff at Costco any cheaper than buying in the supermarkets these days? Can anyone comment on this?

You have to be selective; some of the things such as nuts/fruit/veg are more expensive than supermarkets (though probably better quality) while others are a lot cheaper.

Their meat is very good and they frequently have money off deals (at the moment it is £2 off a pack of chicken- about 2.3kg which brings it down to about £5/kg and their Aberdeen Angus mince is £4.25/pack off which gives a price of about £6.40/kg). Admittedly, you have to have a use for the larger packs.

why is this a deal? costco membership is available at £22 in store. cold

I had a 1 year membership but didn't renew. I found it cheaper getting their deals from a combination of Wilko,Tesco and Asda. You need to take into account how close you are to Costco. Mine is a 25 minute drive whereas I can walk to the shops listed above.

If you sign up to wowcher and use promo code WELCOME20 it will discount this by 20%. I have just done it and paid £26.88, brilliant at this price.

You really have to have a need to buy in bulk, not shop-stocking bulk but "have a separate freezer for produce" and shop for a month plus levels. Then it's worthwhile. The fresh products are brilliant but again you have to be able to consume e.g. croissants etc by the dozen. For items you'd buy in smaller quantities the prices are often similar to or even higher than supermarkets.

Can you get this if you are already a member as my membership is up for renew

I have just bought it. Cannot see the mention of 20£ online spend on voucher, but I will have a word with the staff there as suggested on the comments above..

My sister works in public education, say if she were to sign up, could she register me and take me?

Supposed to be - "Costco is a membership cash and carry warehouse club which sells a wide selection of top quality, brand and selected private-label merchandise at low prices." ...but every time I end up spending around £200 and that is like 1 week food supply.

From my experience, things in Costco are generally expensive, but the quality is usually excellent.

Went in and signed up today with this. The £20 online is in a leaflet they give you when you join. Its on a spend of £20.01. Will tie this in with my £20 Amex deal and it should provide a bargain.

Looking to sign up as a sole trader, anyone know what they will need? Thinking to just bring a business card with me and a letterhead and hopefully that will suffice.

It is more the other way round.

It is designed for your local cornershop owner, they're a wholesaler who sell bulk goods.

The list of occupations are additional people they allow in is more of an inclusion list as opposed to anything else.

perfect, thank you

I know what the Costco policy is, but unless this is mentioned somewhere on LivingSocial, or Costco have changed policy, or they make up the rules on the spot, then this is not the case. In the past they have not been able to refund membership from voucher signups. I can't remember the exact reasons given, but I think it had something to do with not being bought from them, not knowing how much you paid etc..

It's a good deal, but this part is wrong in my experience, and you haven't referenced anything to back it up.

Not trying to be argumentative, just don't think you should say that if it's most likely not the the case

Let's just say i know someone who works there. Costco are so confident that you will be so happy with your membership that you will want to renew. Just like the Executive membership scheme, if you are not happy at any time, you can get a membership refund. Costco know that once you are past your 14 day return period on the membership voucher you bought online, you would be unable to get a refund from Living Social/Wowcher. Therefore once you redeem your coupon in the warehouse, you are a Costco member like any other.
I would never suggest that you sign up to Costco, rinse out all the freebies and then get a membership refund, but in practice this is possible. The offer is there to entice in potential new members and retain them.
Hope this helps!
