i’m sorry but who the hell buys a coffee machine for almost £500. £100-150 …i’m sorry but who the hell buys a coffee machine for almost £500. £100-150 is understandable but half a grand is insane!

Smart people. Stupid people buy a £30 pod machine and spend a grand on pods.

They do different things....
That same arguments apply to people with different priorities.
You spent how much on an iPhone 8? How much on a note 8?!? My s5 does the same job..

You spend how much a month on a lease car?!

You spent £800 on a tv but £100 on your mattress?!

You get the idea...

Same model??

Just to add to this - There was a very similar deal from Amazon* (?Or John Lewis) back in March ish - It had the automatic milk frother and it was in the £300-£350 range from memory. I only remember as I was seriously tempted but just deemed it too much money Anyone else remember? I appreciate this is probably the best deal right now, but it's still good to know that - if I remember correctly - these things do become more heavily discounted than this. I had a quick look to try to track the deal down but no success yet.

Is it possible there will be better deals on these types of machines on Black Friday?

Some pretty bad reviews on John Lewis

I agree. Very happy to spend £500 on a machine provided it makes a cracking cup of coffee and is value for money at a discount price in comparison to it's normal average price.

Lets not forget if you're able to source good coffee beans in bulk at a bargain price you should begin to save money over the long term per cup vs instant coffee or cheap coffee machines that require you to purchase expensive capsules regularly.

Personally I would even rather pay more for "proper" fresh coffee vs instant as I find instant coffee awful now that I have drunk fresh coffee for so many years...

I'm still unsure as to how good a deal this one is at present. As I notice on camelcamelcamel, third party sellers have sold this previously around the 380 400 quid mark...

From memory the discounts earlier in the year were for the Eletta models, not the Primadonna. I may well have missed the deals referenced above though.

edit - Actually looks like most deals have been on the Autentica models.

I bought the Authentica ETAM29.660.SB for £399 last year from Costco online and we are very happy with it. I think the Cappuccino from the machine is as good as Costa! It looks like the PrimaDonna machine is more easily customisable and may be worth the extra £100.

As others have said, I'd rather spend £400 on a machine and then £30 a year on coffee beans than spend £30 on a pod machine and then hundreds each year on pods.

Would John Lewis price match against Costco?
