    How much were Michelin elsewhere?

Good question ! You cannot compare two different brands on pricing and make a statement that they are overpriced !

Costco are generally very competitive on their tyre prices. For like to like quotes I’ve regularly seen savings of between £30 to £50 a set.

Will you get stunk for the disposal of old tires?Ta,

I don't find them that smelly to be honest.

As for tyre disposal, all places will charge for it. It's either itemised or built into the price.

That is what I found when I had a punctured tyre that couldn't be repaired (large bolt on the ground). Costco was the cheapest place I could find Michelin Latitude Sport 3 tyres and they had it in stock (and fitted) the next day. I liked that they have multiple guys on each job so that the guy driving the cars in and out of the garage isn't the guy covered in brake dust and grease.

Kwik Fit (50% more) and Black Circles (£30-40) were more expensive

    Just compared the costs for the following tyres;

    MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 235/40 18Y (95) XL - £122.40 fitted each

    MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 225/40 18Y (92) XL - £99.58 fitted each

    Total: £443.96
    Buy 4 get £80 off = £363.96

The exact same tyres wityh ATS Euromaster using a discount code, comes to £422.96.

Now the downside, I don't have a costco card and the nearest fitting centre is 40 miles away.

I’ve been member for a few years and have always found their normal fitted prices really competitive, but I always wait for an offer like this to bring the price down even more.

They normally only stock 2 or 3 Premium brands so unless you really want a premium brand you obviously can find the size you need cheaper elsewhere.

Also I’ve heard if you only need 2 tyres now they let you buy 4 to get the best discount and they will fit the other 2 when you need them in the future for free.

I’m a Michelin fan and thinkthis is a great deal.

    😄

The downside of the Costco deal is their absolute insistence, if you are just replacing the fronts, of swapping the rear tyres to the front and putting the new tyres to the rear.
On an american, rear wheel drive barge, this makes sense.
But on a small front wheel drive car, I'd prefer my best tyres to be on the front.
I'd prefer maximum braking and steering over any attempt to prevent oversteer.
So, having secured your bargain tyres from Costco - and yes, when one of these frequent money back deals is on, they are indeed a bargain - be prepared to spend an hour switching the new tyres to the front.

I've always found rainsports simply stick to the road, granted they may drop the mpg a little but its well worth it for the confidence they give even in the wet. I always use a little local place in gateshead called great North auto centre. Used them for years and they've always been spot on. They know what they're talking about and don't do work when it's not necessary unlike other places

    Cross climates are expensive.

I also don't like the idea of them. I only go for a rating in the wet (we live in the UK after all). Cross climates tend to have a worse wet rating.

I took advantage of this a few months back, I'm lucky enough to have 15" rims on my Mk2 Octavia Taxi.
Cost me £160 for 4 brand new Michelins fitted. Brilliant that and the reason I joined Costco plus the cheaper fuel and occasional Pizza. They also do 4 litres of Castrol Edge 5w-30 for a very reasonable £28.

If anyone wants to compare like for like, the most common tyre size is probably 205/55 R16 & the ex VAT standard price fitted with new valves & disposal etc for these is...

    Primacy 4 £55

    CrossClimate+ £66

This is the standard (ex VAT) price excluding discount from the offer

It's worth adding CrossClimate are directional tyres & Primacies are not (but are only summer tyres)

So a CC spare would only be a temp fix on one side.

Primacies offer B wet weather braking against Crossclimate's C, but obviously this changes as the temperature lowers.

It seems so haha! Her dad has put them on all the the family cars (the one I have he was selling)And I found the crossclimates junk tbh, were quite keen on losing traction in the dry yes they had plenty tread and tracking/alignment fine

The RS3's have made it a completely different car to drive,

Never had any issues buying from them before, and always been happy. They do these types of deals quite regularly but worth it, as others have mentioned I've not had the same come close with the likes of blackcircles.

I think this offer has been on for a while - I bought a pair a few weeks ago and got the £40 off online. Annoyingly though I booked the fitting for 7pm, arrived 5 minutes early but they said it would take 45 minutes to an hour, and weren't actually done until gone 8!

Cross climates lost traction more than rainsports?

Were they bald? Cross climates are the only tire I've used that I get to the wear markers and Dont notice a loss of traction, have a car with over 500nm and nearly 300hp, most performance tyres spin up when wet, the cross climates don't and I've had over 20k on a set, usually get 12k on regular top tier summer tyres.

We have opposite experiences, I found rain sports to be OK but not great! Although different cars do react differently to tyres so that might explain it, genuinely surprised everyone I've recommended cross climates too swears by them after trying them
