Just filled up at my local Costco (Birmingham) near star city and was shocked not just by the mile long queue outside the store but by the fuel prices!

its national, same at ours, shop is manic but petrol okay as ours has its own entrance.

Loud speakers instore telling you to keep your distance and a list at the front door of things they have in stock, lots of rationing as well but not on all things and sooner or later they will stop people going in once they have so many in store.

I had a drive past at around 11.30 today and the queue to get into the Costco store itself was mad, people were queuing down round the corner into the basement car park, but the forecourt didnt look too bad around then.

Just to put it out there. Been using Costco Premium Diesel upto recently. Thought it was worth the membership alone as over the year the savings were worth it. However having recently used Supermarket standard Diesel recently the fuel economy is notably better and the car is runninng and sounding better. Really surprised as Costco claim their Premium Diesel is better for the car.

I have noticed the same with unleaded too, the only reason I go is because of the price

Used Costco’s unleaded only once after having used a mix of BP and Shell over the years, and noticed immediately that it seemed to ‘mess’ with my car. Lumpy and rough idle was one of the major ones. Could simply just be a coincidence, but going back to BP seemed to rectify the issue

This is interesting.. I felt this also, I usually use sainsbury but I genuinely feel I am getting less miles with costco .. I think I will try switching back to sainsbury and see what happens ..
How is this a suprise, the price of a barrel of oil has more than halved. Pointless rushing out, the prices are going to be low for the next 3-6 months. Calm, the Zombies arent going to eat your brains out!

So premium branded fuel (shell v power, bp ultimate) > supermarket > Costco?

I’m not sure where everyone is going to be going while in enforced isolation

Jesus, paid 121 at Tesco today.
COSTCO, Lakeside today - Premium Unleaded £1.189 per litre.
I have 2 friends who are Uber drivers and both took Costco memberships just for fuel. They both ran into problems with their engines and the Mechanics asked them if they been using Costco fuel? Surprisingly soon after switching back to normal fuel their cars are smooth as before. Point is the low price is their for a reason. I would avoid cheap Costco fuel if I was you.
