OMG YESSSSSS, I buy these from Ocado for £7.50, £1.50 is really cheap, have some heat
Brilliant! I love these, too. Very HOT! But it seems there are no stores in London?
Charlie Bigham meals are lovely - though I am very pernickety about macaroni cheese and like mine without onions or bits of bacon - so I avoid the macaroni.

Me too
I think they are totally overpriced and just marketing. I've tried all of the ones they do and have not been impressed at all. Also - the 'free' serving dishes that you are meant to keep forever and reuse are also garbage - all of mine cracked / broke on their own - they are cheap rubbish. Two were broken inside the packaging from new.

Same here , they are well over priced, and try only when reduced, nothing special about them , but at the price above that’s a bargain

Not £7.50 that's the larger ones around £4.50 for this size 325g
This would be about a tenner in Waitrose
Good deal op. In Belfast Sainsbury’s have stopped stocking the meat ball pasta one which was love
Bought the chicken tikka masala & pilau rice from Sainsburys reduced to £6.75 from £7.50.
To be honest i was i very impressed.
@Red75 Hate to burst your bubble but these are not charlie bingham cottage pies. The ones in heron are 800g, the biggest charlie bingham one is 650g. More than likely surplus stock from Lidl who make a rip off version and weighs 800g.
The beef / chicken pies are great but only because they spend an extra 20p on butter for the pastry.

It’s a good job it was pointed out might have bought some crab paste by mistake(party)
I avoided these when I first saw them in stores. "Overpriced, I'm not paying that for a packaged supermarket meal". It didn't help that I don't buy prepackaged supermarket meals.

Then I tried a spoon from someone elses, easily as good as most high street restaurants and cheaper than a takeaway. Easily enough for two people, any leftovers if it's just me I stick in the fridge for next day. Never had a problem with the pots some of them come with, except that they don't stack well in the cupboard!

I don't think the people complaining are trying the same product...

Well they look and taste the same...if they are a lidl copy they are very good. Never seen them in lidl though? In Herons also do the mac cheese
Hartlepool had these I seen them yesterday
Heroin
The steak and ale pie is superb. No other single pie comes close, true gastropub quality.
This, for £1.50 is a total no brainer, portion size is "solid" well put together & tasty.
Presentation & "basket" is good (not so much plastic), make solid freezer meals for less including time then moaners ..jeez.

Thanks OP good deal, heat, from someone that has spent 2 solid days making batch freezer meals in one hit.
& if you like your macaroni plain & bland, what are you doing not scrutinising the ingredients more?

A decent macaroni is lovely tasty stodge or thin, watery & tasteless, ..the addition of bacon / lardons & a bit of onion blends nicely, if you don't appreciate it what the heck are you eating!?
The larger Charlie binghams meals used to be about £6.50 not to long ago, well I'd say a year or so. These have now got really expensive. Tasty but expensive!
@Red75 are these branded as charlie bigham in Herons? Also, is £1.50 the standard price for them or are they reduced? (if so what from?).

Edit: sorry just seen your reply above. Whether they are good or not, you really can't claim they're Charlie Bigham's with a picture of the original unless you're certain mate. It's a bit like me saying lotus biscuits are 40p in Lidl. However, thanks for bringing them to my attention, maybe they're worth a try.

I bought a lasagne 1.50 but was frozen. Nothing on packaging to say where its made just called luxury lasagne

As i said it my advert, they are part of the excell range. This has been discussed many times on here before about the similarities with well known brands. After having both i believe they are the same, I could be wrong... Either way it is a high quality product for £1.50.. an excellent price!

Their not the same as Charlie Bingham don't make a 800g cottage pie .

Lidl on the other hand are the only one's that do an 800g one and are in the bamboo packaging:

And you sometime get a small crock plate with some of there meals..

Hands up, a mistake has been made here. They were probably both made in the same factory is all fairness, they are a very similar product. Though still a bargain at £1.50, what was lidls price?

Lidl ones retail at £3.99. Aldi also used to make them in bamboo packaging up until the end of last year.
